  • So excited for you guys! I would love to hear more about you and your journey. I am 49, live in Austin and have struggled with weight my whole life. My surgery is actually a revision from the lap band

Dear keepthefocus

Be strong your doing it for the best for you and your family.

We all know exactly how you feel Nd what your going through.

I found surgery fine. I'm on day 6 after surgery and I'm OK. Listen to all the advice but listen to your self and body. I'm a very active person with work and home but have had to stop and realise I need time to heal.

Will be thinking of you.

Stay in touch.

This time in a year we it will all be a thing of the past and do worth it.

Xxxx

Thank you! I needed this. Very pleased to hear you are doing well after surgery.

Hi everyone! New year but have been lurking for a whole. 10/26 if surgery and will start liquid diet tomorrow.
I’ve been so excited about this but now that it’s too weeks away I am starting to get so scared.

I am also having my Gastric Bypass on 10/26! Started my Pre Op diet today, but fortunately its not full liquids until 2 days prior to surgery. Its definitely starting to feel real!

Surgery scheduled 10/25

on day 3 of my pre op liquid diet and really going crazy craving pasta. I feel like if I get it out of my system I will be fine the rest of the time but am scared if I eat it today it will affect me 11 days from now . Any input on a one time cheat during that pre op liquid only window?

I had my surgery on 10-14-2021
Had sleeve surgery 10/13 so three days post op. Day of surgery was the toughest with soreness and getting water in. But each day since then has been huge improvement with both. One thing I am thankful for is the lack of the hunger feeling. I got it a couple of times but realized it was in my brain and not signals from my body. A couple sips of water easily satisfied that urge. I am very excited about the days and weeks that lie ahead!

I’m on my second day of preop diet. I’m keeping busy by making soups and cleaning out the refrigerator. That thing is a mess!

When I had mine done a few years back I had the same issue with water. Adding crystal lights minimized the aches going down. It was weird because prior to I didn’t like crystal light and I preferred water solo lol. But it’s true what my Dr. said your taste buds will change. And another thing he strongly suggested was to NOT buy in bulk yet since it’ll all be trial and error until one can discover what one can tolerate, because again what one might tolerate and like prior to surgery can change post. My revision from sleeve to duodenal switch is 10/27!!

I got my sleeve done 10/13 so I am 3 days post op. I agree the first day I was so groggy from the anesthesia I could barely get fluids down. I feel a lot better as of today. I'm ready to progress to at least soft foods! I will be focusing on water and chicken broth in addition to my protein intake

Bit of a swelly belly situation toward day’s end but otherwise not too bad. Bypass done on Mon the 11th. Getting a better sense of what my wee little pouch can hold. P.S. It ain’t much!!! ?

Sleeve on 13th. I’m doing ok. Getting fluids in but struggling with protein as I can only take a couple of spoonfuls of broth, and everything has a new strange taste. Trying protein shake today hoping it will go down ok.

Had mine done Oct 6th.

Going well. Now onto pureed food.

Got told by doc's rather handsome side kick 3 protein shakes a day but could only do 2 made me feel sick. Nutrition skinny lady said he's a doctor I'm the foodie don't listen to him regarding food ? and she's right.

Only bad bit was Dave the stomach drain who I had to go home with. His looks were not so stunning so he got covered with a sock ? but after 11 days we separated and went our separate ways.

But all in all good, tired and taking it slowly.

Big love to you all

Onwards and upwards

Hello,

I just had full bypass on October 6th. I am a week post op and feeling very good, just very hungry at times. I am on Clear Liquids for 1 more week. I have moments where I'm so hungry my stomach growls. I am pushing through. I wish you all success and hope everyone is well!

This is me as well. I had VSG October 5th and I'm STARVING. It's not head hunger, either because I'm not exactly craving anything, and nothing even sounds appetizing to me. The problem with me is I'm lacking nutrients and protein (dummy me ordered my supplies late). But apart from that, I barely even want water, milk (lactose-free and fat-free) or broth. I sip them because I have to, but man...blegh. I knew the hunger would come back but I thought it'd be months after surgery, not days.

The liquid stage sucks. I'm definitely looking forward to starting purées next week.
