Wow that's interesting that you don't have to do any preOp. Ok that will be here before you know it!

yea he said he didnt see the point of putting someone on a diet before weight loss surgery

however I think its mostly bc I'm 18 and my insurance

Oh gotcha! I wonder why some are different when high Protein, low fat, non-starchy veggies shrink your liver just fine?

What food funerals did you throw? I haven't had caffeine in MONTHS and don't drink much either.

Good luck!

I have just been over eating by eating the full portion at restaurants and eating ice cream and Cereal and stuff. I just stopped caffeine again today. It doesn't keep me awake and I don't get a headache when I stop, but I like the taste of coffee and diet soda - both of which I had stopped month ago and started again!

Why surgeons' instructions and protocols are so different drives me batty. It's like, don't they do clinical trials to determine which way is actually better, like every other part of medicine? Isn't there evidence for what is better??? I work in clinical research and I'm used to there being a proscribed treatment course that is used at all reputable hospitals. But maybe that's only true in oncology.

My surgery is August 31st but I figure it is close enough to track progress with September? Maybe? About a week to go, I am down 19 pounds from my first surgeon visit.

Hi all, my first time here, my surgery is scheduled for September 13th I was told only a clear liquid diet the day before surgery and nothing after midnight but otherwise eat a normal diet, is this typical?

I am adjusting my diet starting today to include a Protein Shake and healthy meals with my daily Vitamins.

Has anyone else had the same directions from their doctor and where you told to avoid caffeine?

Exactly the same as me. I’m doing the same. I’ve lost 6 lbs in a week. Obviously some of that is Water but it’s not nothing!

Mine is scheduled for September 7th - RNY.

I am on Day 5 of my PreOp diet and includes 4 shakes a day (Optifast). I am allowed Veggie broth, Decaf Tea or coffee and flavored water if needed.

Mine is one meal a day with 3 ounces of Protein and some vegetables, the rest liquid and Protein Drinks. I am down almost 20 pounds in two weeks. Not really hungry that much, much easier than I though. My surgery is 8/31

Nearly there now, good luck

Ive got to say it was a big shock to my body when your used to eating and drinking whenever you want and also big shock psychologically as your body has never had restrictions. I did go in hospital as I became dehydrated not being able to drink as often as I did which made me feel dizzy unwell fatigued. Also constipated aswell. My blood results are all normal so If i manage to keep drinking a sip every 5 mins( Aiming 1 litre a day) i will go home xxx

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
