  • So today is day eight of my pre-op diet. For some reason I am starving! I went to get my blood work done and saw sign across the room and thought it said cheese sticks. ?

Clear liquid diet for me. I am looking forward to a regular liquid diet now. This one really bites.

Do any of you have to do a magnesium citrate bowel prep?

Thank goodness no! Lol

No bowel prep here, just a very restrictive diet and Clear Liquids only the last day. Almost there!!! I talk myself into and out of this a million times a day.

Same here. I keep telling my husband if I just stay on a liquid diet I don’t need the surgery, right? Lol. But I’m doing it. I should have done it 10 years ago. I’m not spending another year in the miserable state I’m in now.

On day 5 of 14 for my pre-op diet. Feeling a bit better but it’s so HARD!! my doctor’s list of ‘foods’ for the diet is pretty short? shakes, SF Jello & popsicles, broth, Decaf coffee& teas, SF electrolyte drinks. Surgery dates August 5th. I’m so ready!!

Same diet here but no shakes and no caffeine. ALL clear SF liquid here. I’m pleasantly surprised by how much I don’t mind SF jello.

Halfway through my 2 week pre-op diet and I'm SO tired of protein shakes. At least my plan involves some solid food, I feel so bad for you folks on full liquids.
I'm the same 3 opti-fast fast a day and I'm allowed 2 cups of protein a day plus clear liquid. My gastric sleeve is on 9/8.

Is that two cups of protein or vegetables?

I"m tomorrow. Noon arrival at the hospital. Still talking myself in and out of it. I lost 50 pounds since January. I keep fighting with myself that if I lost that, I could lose the rest. Then I come to my senses and realize I've been doing this for a good 40 years. Not the first time I lost weight. It doesn't stay off so I *need* this tool. Right? Right!

I’m the same mindset, but I remind myself -and you- that there’s a reason I haven’t been able to do it before. This is a tool to help me / us make it work. Sending prayers your way. My surgery is 8/23.

Yes. Thank you. The logical part of me knows this. I just have to keep reminding myself.

You're in a fantastic place! The surgery should help you maintain that loss AND lose more! If you're anything like me, losing 50 pounds is one thing, keeping it off forever is another thing altogether. I'm on Wednesday so I'm hoping to see you post about how well it went before I go in. ?

Thanks! I will! ?????

I am having my bypass on the 16th. Very excited! Half way through my pre-op diet and I am so hungry….

Just found this website and so thankful to have done so! I had my surgery on August 4th for gastric bypass. Going into day 5 post op and I have to say, I was so nervous I was going to be in agony for days after surgery but my pain never went over a 5.
only issue right now is some residual gas pain that has settled in my lower bowels and trying to sleep comfortably through the night. Other than that, so thankful for my experience so far!
