Able to eat more at 2nd week - Nervous!

Recommended Posts

Hi everyone! Has anyone felt like they can eat more than others? Yesterday, I ate 2oz of cream of wheat for Breakfast, lunch was 2oz of egg salad, snack was a Protein Shake and dinner was 4oz of Ricotta Bake - I thought I ate 2oz but turns out I ate 4oz. I am only in my second week and im on puree. Most of the time I can eat 2oz before I get full but I notice sometimes im able to eat a little more. This makes me nervous like im doing something wrong and, or that im going to gain weight eventually from this. I know it sounds crazy but it just makes me nervous. Any encouragement is very much appreciated. Thank you!

I was worried the same. I was told that you don’t really feel the restriction until you get to soft foods and that was true for me. I still could eat more than they suggest for what stage I am at so I just measure my food and eat what is expected but I couldn’t eat a lot more because I do feel the restriction eventually. I learned this because three ounces by weight of meat is more than three ounces of volume and I was weighing it at first.

That's true. I keep reminding myself that I'm still eating so much less than I used to haha and I still feel that restriction, today I ate 2oz of egg salad again and I felt that restriction. Its just interesting because I read so many post about people struggling on getting anything down so it just surprises me. I can also get Water down so easily, sometimes can even gulp water. I dont feel any pain at all.

I'm a few days in to what they call liquid Stage 2, which is the puree and thicker liquids... thiquids. Im copyrighting that...

Anywho, I struggle daily worrying I can eat too much. You sounds like you're doing perfect. 2oz is a fine start and certainly not too much. The 4oz is the same. The liquids (thiquids) are still that... liquid. They move out of your stomach pretty quickly. The soft food stage is where I'm hearing a lot of people finally get "full" for real. Try not to worry, you're doing perfect. :)

you'll feel the restriction once you move to solid food. In the mean time, just measure out what you're supposed to eat and just eat that. In addition to the fact that you won't feel much, if any, restriction with pureed foods, you've likely had some nerves cut during surgery, and it takes awhile for them to regenerate - so your stomach may not be fully "talking" to your brain at the moment..(i.e., letting it know it's had enough).

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
