Okay so I have a question. Why didn’t my surgeon not give me a full two weeks on the diet? I was called this pst Wednesday (4/28/21) at noon telling me my surgery is scheduled for next Wednesday (5/5/21) so that’s barely 7 days to diet. Is this a normal thing that can happen or has happened to anyone?? Any thoughts or ideas

It sounds to me like they had a cancellation if they just scheduled it 7 days in advance but obviously the surgeon thinks 7 days is enough to do it safely or they wouldn’t do it. Did they not talk to you about what your preop diet would be like before they called and scheduled your appointment?

She did mention to me to have two shakes one meal and the three days before all shakes. I’ve heard nothing but this two week diet this whole time and so it through me for a loop haha I’m following what she said.

I only had a liquid diet from 12pm through 12am the day before surgery. All doctors are different and have a specific plan they like patients to follow. I’ve seen quite a few people here that have a few weeks of liquids only before surgery.

Okay then I should be alright. So many different things out there. I’ll just keep doing what I’m doing 😀

not all surgeons require it. Consider yourself lucky!

Many don't do a pre-op diet (ours didn't) as they don't feel it provides them, or the patient, any benefit. It only seems here, online, that they are a standard practice as they are so objectionable (particularly the all liquid ones that some docs impose) that it's all people can talk about - those who don't have them have nothing to complain about so they don't post about it.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
