Caffeine limits and guidelines

Did you specifically ask your surgical team about caffeine pills? I mean, do they know you are taking them? I would make sure they understand you are not asking about coffee but specifically caffeine pills, because pills are different than liquids and they might have different rules. I say this because it seems like everyone here is responding with answers pertaining to how their doctors felt about coffee or caffeinated drinks, not caffeine pills. I would make sure your surgery team understands you are asking about pill-form caffeine.

Good luck!

Thank you! I was thinking the same thing. I very much appreciate everyone's input.

And yes, I did ask the surgeon and the dietician about caffeine pills specifically (not coffee). I listed it as medication on all of my paperwork so they understood. Obviously I'll stop taking it when they ask me to, but I wanted to know what the future will look like post-op with or without them (or any other caffeine source, for that matter).

The dietician let me know that I can continue the tablets if I'd like to as early as one month after surgery. She advised I try to stop any caffeine now so that when I do my 2 weeks liquid diet I won't be in withdrawal. I've since dropped down to 100mg a day and will stop that when I get a surgery date.

I agree with lizonaplane. At first glance I just read caffeine and thought about coffee or soda but they tablets may cause their own issues or they could be harmless. I would be certain to clarify.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
