More susceptible to COVID after surgery?

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

Has any of your doctors said that we/you are more susceptible to getting COVID during your recovery time? I work in a retail location in a high risk area and forgot to ask my doctor and was wondering if any of you had a convo with your doctor about that.

Thanks
Mark

1. Get vaccinated ASAP.

2. Yes, your body is incredibly stressed the first month. You should take extreme caution avoiding Covid exposure.

3. Talk to your doctor about when you should return to work.

I actually called my surgeon's office who said the doctor would not write me an "at risk" note to be eligible for the vaccine (criteria for those under 65 in Florida at the time). Told me that surgery and rapid weight loss did not put me at high risk. I was a little "pissed". Called my primary care doctor who had a letter ready for me to pick up that afternoon. Had the first vaccine shot the next day.

Then I go in for my 3 month post op appointment, actually see the surgeon, who immediately asked if I got vaccinated and did I need a note? Moral of the story - I don't think his office staff even asked him when I first called. That "pissed me off" too.

Yes! my doctor told me I was at a increased risk for covid the first month. that I needed to isolate for a minimum of 2 weeks after surgery because my immune system was compromised from surgery.

Well I didn’t ask about COVID risk exactly but he did agree it was good idea to get COVID vaccine when it was made available to me two weeks post op. I would’ve been sorta peeved about that too.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
