Jealous Spouse

I have a jealous hubby. I don't know if jealous is the right word. Since I have lost my weight (75 lbs.), he is acting weird. We are only in February, but he keeps talking about the clothing I would wear when the nice weather comes. He asked me several times if I am going to buy some halter tops....LOL All I can do is laugh about this. I am 51 yrs. old, and I would never even think about wearing that. He also keeps asking me if I am going to wear shorts, (I never did being heavier). What should I do, if anything about this?

  • Is he maybe just looking forward to seeing you in these clothes for himself?

  • Well, I'm single, so take my advice with a grain of salt, but maybe this would be a good thing to discuss with him directly. Ask if he's concerned about your clothing choices and why the idea of you

  • So I often chat with Mr. about the goings-on on this forum. Especially since i'm on here like ALL. THE. TIME. (yep, I'm a BP addict), and given Pandemic In The Wintertime, it is one of my main sources

halter tops? He must be a child of the 1970s! I didn't think people wore those anymore.

Yea - he just sounds worried that other men will find you attractive or something. Which they might. But that doesn't mean you're going to dump him for them! I'd just keep reassuring him of that.

halter tops - those are like miniskirts, short shorts, and bikinis. Those days are long gone for me (I'm in my 60s). Just because I COULD wear them, doesn't mean I WOULD. Or not outside of my house, anyway!

did you buy them recently? I don't think I've seen any in stores in ages. although I haven't been looking for them, so maybe I just haven't noticed.

Keep in mind some men don't really understand women's clothing. He may be thinking halter top and shorts as the kind of thing a stripper wears whereas you might be thinking of what they actually look like.

It sounds like you need to have an open honest conversation together.

I was thinking the stripper thing.

Wow that is an awesome outfit. I might be able to wear that this summer! Where did you get that? I haven't seen halter tops in ages. (another child of the 70's here LOL)

The top is from Shein.com ($11 CAD!!)

https://ca.shein.com/Scalloped-Hem-Self-Tie-Crocheted-Halter-Top-p-467624-cat-2291.html

...but the pants I got from side of the road market while on vacation, lol.

P.S. @catwoman7, I DO have a top like that orange print one (but mine is white and gauzy). I went looking for it to take a pic of, but I suspect my Kid stole it and is now lost in her sea of closet clothes. ? We'll see if she can turn it up.

I had this one that I bought in 1974 and LOVED. I don't know what happened to it. My mother hated it so she might have thrown it out (wouldn't be the first time - she was famous for throwing out things she didn't like when we were at school), but it could be in a box in my house somewhere, too. This gives me an incentive to start going through boxes - we have a few we haven't unpacked since we moved here 22 years ago!

those pants look very retro, too. I also wore those c. 1974. We called them "plazzo pants" (not sure about the spelling)

I guess this conversation goes to show you - if you keep things long enough, they'll come back into style!]

P.s. just googled the name of the pants - it's actually "palazzo"

I certainly hope so...i have a rack of blazers and jackets with line-backer-esque 80's shoulder pads that are itchin' to see the light of day. ?

Awww, poor thing. I've often wondered, in doing my research before deciding to take the plunge myself, if maybe our spouses wouldn't benefit from seeing the psychologist too when we go through this procedure. I think it would be a good thing. Maybe a class for them alone and then one for both spouses together so that our fears and expectations can be addressed.

I agree with you on that. There should be some kind of support for the spouses.

We had a little bit of a convo last night, but he seemed like he didn't really want to talk about it. I just let it go.

LOL yes he is a child of the 70's! He has not mentioned a bathing suit yet.

I love that outfit, my hubby would probably have a heart attack if I wore something like that.
