Post Op gastric sleeve with GERD

Recommended Posts

I had gastric sleeve. I have regained a lot of my weight sitting around with the covid, just one poor excuse. I have no energy. I have GERD now and saw my doc. he is having me do a endoscopy and UGI. He thinks I will have to convert to GBP. Not being cynical, but of course he does, He is a surgeon. If I really focus and try to just take the weight off, wouldn't that be better than BPG. has anyone just did that?

If you're not in a rush and your Surgeon believes you can wait, why not try?

But please remember GERD testing can tell you how severe your situation is and how quickly you need to act.

Good Luck ♥️

GERD after sleeve doesn't happen to everyone, or even to the majority, but there's a fairly significant minority who develop it after surgery - enough so that they usually recommend people go with RNY if they have GERD prior to surgery.

Losing weight may help with that - but then again, it might not since it IS a known potential side effect. You could always try to lose the weight first and see if that does the trick - and if not, go for the revision (if that's what you want to do - you may be able to control it with meds, too...)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
