Surgery postponed due to Covid

I’m delayed too. It’s officially been a year since I started the program....It does feel very overwhelming and hopeless. Like it’s never going to happen. I completed 6 months went through all the hoops and loops and I tried to stay on top of it all and In November I got a phone call for Dec 23. I have a 7 yr old and I’m a single mom there’s no way I could do that to her. So I called to check on it today and I was informed that they may be shut down again and there’s forty ppl ahead of me between all of there doctors. So it probably won’t happen in January. I have insurance through January I will have to do a Redetermination mid January which shouldnt change insurance but there’s always that chance. Also the surgery center told me that if they shut down it could be months again and then all the people already scheduled will be rescheduled first. 🤦🏻‍♀️ Sucks.

I'm so sorry that you're having to go through that. That really does suck. Just hang in there and stick with the healthy eating. Hopefully Jan will be here before we know it. It took 6 phone calls and numerous messages to the surgeon's office for me to get the date finalized. They finally admitted that my file was lost in the process of COVID and a scheduler change in their office!😣 Sometimes it wears me out and gives me serious anxiety all these hoops to jump through to try to get healthier.

minimamaz00m, Right now they are saying that they will. The surgeon said it should be easy to get it covered as a scenario where the skin surgery is needed as a result of the sleeve surgery. Let's hope they really do cover it when it comes down to it. Worst case scenario, I have a relative overseas who is a general surgeon so if they wont cover it I'll have to take a trip overseas and get it done there which will be way cheaper and I know I'll still be in good hands!

If I am ever in that boat I'll have to ask you who this is! 🙂

Well yesterday I got a call from the scheduler, that they are starting up scheduling surgeries again because the hospital did not get as slammed as they thought it would. There is a tiny chance that I will be able to fit in at the end of December. I'm 4th on their list with a possible date of Dec 28 or 29. It just depends on how fast the schedule fills up with people that are higher on the list. Glad I didn't start up my pain medication again, and restarted my liver shrinking diet. Crossing fingers!

(P.S. this liver shrinking diet isn't for sissies ... 20 carbs per day? bleh. Now I remember why I hated Atkins...)

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
