Timing of multivitamin

Recommended Posts

So I'm supposed to start taking my supplements tomorrow. My nut said to take the Multivitamin with food so I don't get nauseated. It's a capsule, so I need to take with water... Do I wait until I am supposed to drink Water again (30 min after eating), or just go ahead and take a small sip to swallow the capsule while I'm eating?

Take it after you eat. This is key otherwise you may become nauseated. The sip of Water you’ll need to swallow the capsule is negligible. But see how you go you may need to wait 5-10mins. We’re all different. I used to take one after Breakfast & one after to dinner to make it easier but I still got nauseated & vomited a couple of times. I hope you don’t have any problems.

Thank you, @Arabesque. I'd literally rather be in pain than nauseated or vomiting, so... I hope it goes well, too.

I agree - I just take mine with a tiny sip of water....it's not enough to cause issues.

I agree with Arabesque. I take mine shortly after a meal and after my food has "settled" a bit (maybe 15-30 minutes). I take it with only as much Water as is necessary to swallow the pill.

I have found that if I take it on an empty or nearly empty stomach, I will get nauseated. The more empty, the more nausea.

I actually take mine before I eat. everyone is different, but it's easier for me to do the small sip before food than it is after. Sometimes, that extra sip will be just a little too much. If it doesn't work well after, try before. :)

Your Vitamins should be liquid or chewable not capsules or tablets 10 year post op here believe me I have been deficient many times over the years from taking capsules. Now I use good brands of gummies and chewables no issues.

Both my surgeon and my dietician said tablets and capsules are fine. They don't want their patients taking gummies or softgels, though.

I've been tolerating the multivitamin just fine, thankfully. I did NOT tolerate the Calcium I had, though. I'm now taking soft chews for that.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
