Hi All,

Just wondering if anyone regularly gives blood after surgery?

I did it regularly pre op but haven't been game too after yet.

Anyone have any issues with fainting or nausea after?

I tried after surgery but my ferritin levels fell to almost nothing. My doctor said there was almost no way I could donate regularly without becoming anemic. When I did donate, I didn't have any nausea or dizziness.

I would say Wait a few years get your body balanced out with all you Vitamins and Minerals - I did give last week in a covid Anti Body thing was fine, but Got really Tired quickly

One thing for sure its easier to find the veins now that they are not swallowed in FAT

Agree with both above! As Mr Alley Gator indicated, big blood drive here in FL. A few weeks ago I asked surgeon if okay for me to donate, now 8 months out. He replied my bloodwork was strong so should be fine. Soul searching told me I’d be wiped out for way too long...much as I want to donate, just not ready yet.

Some people are advised not to - but I know some who of done it. As the above posters said, it depends on your ferritin levels. It's hard to get those back up if they fall too low. I haven't given blood since my surgery since I'm a little afraid of that (i.e., ferritin depletion - not giving blood per se!)

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
