Getting Ready for Surgery

Recommended Posts

Exciting!

I appreciated having baby/feminine wipes to stay as clean as possible (could not shower immediately) and tons of nurse/doctor maybe touching you especially your arms/hands

I'll also add chapstick to the list! You really don't need much though. You will have surgery, then pretty much sleep on and off for the next 24 hours!

+1 for the chapstick

i also brought a bottle of Biotin spray for the unbelievably sore/dry throat that i woke up with after the surgery.

(everything else I brought was left untouched in my overnight bag...well except my phone)

I brought a robe (it gets cold in the hospital rooms), knee high socks, an extra long phone cord charger and my laptop computer! I was hooked up. I would bring chapstick and face wipes if I did it again though. Other than that - you should be set.

Good luck!!

you're not going to need much because they'll have you in a hospital gown and slip-resistant socks, and you're probably going to sleep much of the time you're there. Phone and charger for sure. And wear comfy, easy-to-put-on clothes that you can wear home, too.

Oh, and bring a pillow to hug on the ride home...helps to hold over your tum when you go over bumps!

I was freezing, so I wore the slip resistant socks over my knee high socks. 🤣 One of nurses cracked up at how bundled up I was. I get cold easily though and it was really cold in my hospital room.

I was in the hospital for less than 24 hours, so I really did not need much. My number one thing was pajama pants to wear with my hospital gown so my backside was not hanging out while I walked the halls. I also used the previously mentioned chapstick, Biotin mouth spray, phone, iPad, and charger. The hospital had toothbrush and toothpaste. I did not shower during my short stay. I wore the same comfy clothes home that I had worn to the hospital.

Hope your surgery and hospital stay are boring and short!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
