Well, you mentioned they said they were giving you Vitamins at the appt... does that mean like... GIVING them to you? Or just saying you need to take them from that appt on?

My plan just said I had to have certain amounts of key Vitamins in whichever I chose, and listed a couple possibilities. Ultimately, it was up to me, which is why I spent literally an entire day, pre op, looking at vitamins on Amazon. The opurity option (from Unjury) was relatively inexpensive and touched all the points, but I have an Amazon CC, so it came down to that, to be honest.

If it's like pre-op, they had the meds I'd need after surgery ready in the office and I paid for them and took them home. I assume it's the same. They'll be *handing them to me after I pay - they are pretty hands on.

I had my sleeve yesterday. all went well. Today(day2) was relatively painless although I still took my pain meds in case. The ride home with bumps in the road was the most painful part. Probably taper meds over the next few days.

For anyone still upcoming on their surgery, don't be afraid to ask for pain meds. At different points I got a tylenol IV drip and a few times I got morphine. My doctors and nurses were great and very attentive. Had it at baylor scott while in Frisco, tx.

Hey all!! Had my sleeve done today at St Thomas Midtown in Nashville.

I’m still very sore, and had some lingering nausea while in recovery, but I’m currently sipping my hospital tray broth. The warmth feels great on my throat, and is helping me burp to get rid of some of the gas they inflated me with. Sitting and and walking really help with the gas too. My dr requires me to walk 4x/day while I’m in the hospital recovering, and about 5 minutes every hour I’m awake when I go home.

Hang in there everyone! It’s going to be so worth it in the end! 💕

Hi guys. Getting desperat now. No BM since before surgery 8 days ago.
My tummy are starting to hurt also.

Will try some natural remedies today and see if it helps. If not I have to get something stronger from the parmacy. 😥

Have you started taking your Vitamins? I started my vitamins the day after I got home and that evening things were moving.

Life altering diarrhea, and my urine smells like Protein Shakes. Monday cant get here soon enough. Ugh. Lost 12 lbs so far on liver shrink diet, so there's that.

Hate to burst your bubble, but those Protein Shakes continue postop. I am so sick of them! I didn’t have the diarrhea part though. Have to drink Smooth Move Tea to get results.

Hello everyone! I am 8 days Post Op I was 234 before preop diet. Weigh 214.2 today. Still very swollen. Wearing the band pretty much 24/7 to help with that.

Have not had any painkiller - even tylenol - since Friday. So pain was not bad - only did the codeine for two days and then switched to powdered Tylenol. I did not even know there was such as thing - kind of like an adult pixie stick. LOL

I do think that I am a bit hungry - although I don't act on it. Could be just a reflex when I am in the kitchen. ( craving like smokers get after eating meals)

I am struggling getting all fluids in though. I am using Ensure Max Protein supplemented with unflavored whey and collagen. Have been getting 90 grams per day.

Fluids like are tough though. I am a gulper and this sipping stuff is tedious.

Wounds are healing well. Really looking forward to three days from now when I no longer have to take the blood thinner injections - right side is sore from needle sticks.

Smooth Move works fairly well. I ended up using some liquid glycerine suppositories.

I’m officially sleeved! The pain and nausea were pretty bad yesterday, and I threw up liquid pain meds once. 0/10, do not recommend. Feeling a bit better today. I’m trying to drink a Protein Shake right now, just still really hesitant because of the pain in my stomach.

I’ve had a lot of burps and they make me feel so much better. I feel like it’s like burping a baby.

Passed the swallow test this am so hopefully things are looking up!

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.
