Different Restriction through the day

Recommended Posts

I’m 6 months post op mini bypass. I’ve noticed in the last month or so that I feel restriction still in the mornings and can eat very little (ex. 1/2 cup yogurt and some berries). But in the evenings, I can easily eat 2-3 times as much as in the morning before I feel the restriction. Is this common? Is it because I haven’t eaten at night so my stomach is less “stretched” in the morning? It just seems very odd. I find that if I’m not portioning out my meal properly in the evening, it can be easy to over eat, or at least eat more than I plan to eat.

I"m not sure about the restriction part, but I have pretty much zero interest in food in the morning, at from about 4:00 p.m. on, I could be an eating machine if I let myself...

@catwoman7 - THANK YOU! That is me too and I’m trying to figure out why that is because I eat most of my calories or when I’m going to give into my cravings. I don’t know how to break those feelings and habits.

Think about chronotypes. I'm definitely not the morning type of person. Every try to change that failed miserably. Best thing I ever did was accepting that I'm not a morning person and while working schedules can't be adapted in most cases at least eating schedules can be adapted accordingly to your needs.

Not eating when having no interest in food and eating when you're hungry is getting as close to acting normally around food as one can get.

I'm not sure of the biology of it, but the same thing happens to me too! It seems like my tum gets more tolerant toward foods thought the day? It's weird. And I'm not sure if this is the right way to approach it, but I usually don't snack at all throughout the day and save a few calories back so I can have a little healthy snack with my husband when we're chillin after the kids go to bed. Hahaha

I got the sleeve and I am exactly the same way. I was like this before surgery too though. I've never been able to eat in the mornings. I can not go to sleep hungry - it will keep me awake. And I can easily overdo it on the calories at night. I wish I wasn't like this. I've read you shouldn't three hours before bed, at least.. but like I said, if I do that I will toss and turn. It is frustrating!

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
