Extended Release (psychiatric meds) after RNY

Recommended Posts

I took extended release Xanax before at night and I had to switch to regular because it stopped working. Xanax lasts about 5 hours and now I often wake up around 5 hours after I go to sleep. Sometimes I split the dose between bedtime and when/if I wake up. Over all, it's worked out fine and is a small inconvenience. Whatever you do, I hope you share it with and have a plan with your doctor so you get the support you need.

I’m interested in the responses you get for your question also. I have bipolar and take extended release meds for that. I’m having a sleeve done in Sept. I’m hoping that I don’t have too many issues with malabsorption.

I’m having RNYGB in Oct. saw my psychiatrist the other day, and she said that most of the ER will still work, but sometimes they have to be given twice a day. It just depends on the med and your metabolism. It will be interesting to see what happens with mine too. I’m an NP also, but have never really had to work with gastric bypass pts unfortunately.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
