Jscales11 reacted to ruthpets in Has anyone regretted getting the surgery?I have never regretted my Lapband, even with some of the bad issues that went with it and I don't regret my recent revision to a sleeve. To be unburdened from a fixation with food, surrendering the concept of food as a comfort, and finally loving my body has been an amazing thing for me.

First, there are people that have regretted having surgery. Generally they aren't on sites like this.
Second, all those bad things that you've read about in the past are still out there. Put them in perspective right next to all the negative effects of not doing anything. Choose wisely.
Third, saying goodbye to your favorite foods forever largely depends on your surgery type. Even then, none of the foods you mention are goodbye forever foods in reality.
In the last month I've eaten McD's. Red meat is in my normal rotation, you can pry my hamburger out of my greasy, dead hands. I've had Peanut butter cups, though not much and not often as I've had RNY and I dump on sugar. In point of fact there is no food or drink that I cannot eat if I choose. I generally stick to my plan, so the worse the food/drink is health-wise the less often I eat/drink a little of it. All things in moderation, including moderation.
Your Doctors work for you. If your Doc is not doing what you need, then you need a new Doc.
You can succeed at this with the proper mind set. It is a big change for most of us. For the better, generally.
Good luck,
Tek

Jscales11 reacted to crystaldawn81 in Has anyone regretted getting the surgery?I do not regret having the surgery at all. I'm 10 months post op and o feel better than I've felt in years. I was 100lbs overweight and I've lost 85 of that so far. Doing without cokes didn't affect me any but I do eat red meat.

Jscales11 reacted to MamT in Anyone for October 2020?My dr told me to have miralax everyday. Also, if you mix prune juice and apple juice together and heat it up that works great! Just make sure to get the no sugar added juices.

Jscales11 reacted to Lilfootie in Anyone for October 2020?hi everyone - Three weeks out. Yesterday one one of my incisions started oozing yellow. I had a small green spot on the scab as of last week. I messaged my care team. I have a feeling it is infected. It looked wonky since the start and they told me at my last appt it looked fine. All my others are nearly gone now. Still dealing with the seriously itchy welts from the Lovonox allergy. They have not gone away or gotten smaller. I have one 2-4 inches in diameter every place I injected for the first two weeks. Literally covered in then. Between weeks 2-3 I only lost half a pound (I only weighed Sunday). Either the stall came early, or all the Benadryl and swelling from my rash is keeping me from loosing (Benadryl can cause weight gain when taken over time, and I was taking it 3-4x per day for a week). Pretty down about everything. I feel like I am missing a chance for major weight loss and just ridiculously uncomfortable.

Jscales11 reacted to rosalind68 in Discouraged about protein intakeTry this, its water based and tastes ok. I can't drink shakes either and it didn't make me throw up and isn't bad tasting, its the first one that isn't giving me a chemical taste. I will tell you I haven't finished it but I'm working on it. I bought this at Walgreens

Jscales11 got a reaction from Glowup Jess in Anyone for October 2020?I’ve just had to take time for myself. Sometimes I slink off to the bedroom, or I go for a car ride. I’ e expressed it to my family and surgeon that I’m getting nervous, and they have been supportive. It’s like sometimes I have no nervousness or anxiety about it, and then it just hits. Those are mostly the times that I like to be alone. Don’t know if that even helps, but it’s what I’ve had to do.

Jscales11 reacted to catwoman7 in How Soon Is Too Soon for Reset?do you think you might just be in a stall? They typically last 1-3 weeks. Otherwise, if it's been longer, I agree with the above poster that I'd start looking at what I've been eating.

Jscales11 reacted to SusanMcG in Anyone for October 2020?Happy for you!!!!!! Its been a rough go for me due to Covid delays, elevated A1C levels that would not come down.....and finally everything came together. It will be one year since I started my journey and first visit to my surgeon. I had to complete all the requirements for my surgeon which took a long time... All the info I put into my profile is wrong and I don't know how to change it...cant find a way to edit the info...so its frustrating!!! Libra girls are so wonderful....we are blessed to be born in October..... Careful you only have one cupcake...eat it slowly and really enjoy it....... Good luck and stay connected!!!!!

Jscales11 reacted to RJ'S/beginning in dill pickles okay pre op cheat?I am very surprised at the harsh words on this forum....We are here to encourage not break people down...I did the pre-op fine....But others on here had a cheese burger while doing pre-op....
I think if I was asking for help and got this kind of answer I would leave the forum discouraged!
I am not saying it was right.....But there are ways of saying things that get the point across without that kind of force.....We are all in this together and rely on each other to help work through the issues....Not hit people over the head...
An old expression fits here I think...You get more flies with honey then with vinegar.....
Just a thought for those who think they will never fall or make a mistake in this life long journey
Make sure you tell your surgeon so that he/she can decide if the surgery will be a go or not.....K

Jscales11 reacted to jg7979 in Just the thought of it makes me barfTry Unjury.com chicken soup or chili flavors. The thick texture and sweetness bothered me after surgery, but I could handle chicken soup. -
Jscales11 reacted to BadWolfGirl in Protein Drinks IsopureHave you tried Syntax Nectar? It's the only protein I can stand. I get the variety pack on Amazon. The flavors are so good and not chalky.

Jscales11 reacted to Starwarsandcupcakes in Post-Op Protein HELP!!Try blending and straining chicken soup made with bone broth. You can try collagen or egg powders instead of whey protein powders so see if the change in base helps at all.
Above all, if the sweet stuff is making you sick or gag then don’t try and force it down, it won’t do you any good.

Jscales11 reacted to Jilly16 in Day 1: clear liquids (and peanut butter!)So my lil reset started out really well. I did good all day long, stuck to clear liquids all day. I was really missing my protein coffee drink this morning big time, but I got thru! I did just eat a lil tablespoon of peanut butter though. I gave in, but I don't feel like a failure. Today was tough, and I realize that eating a scoop of peanut butter doesn't mean I've totally fallen off the wagon and I'll eat donuts and cakes and cookies all day tomorrow. It'll be an easier day actually with full liquids. The plan I'm following allows for thinned out oatmeal and noodle soup. I have more options, and I won't feel deprived like I felt today. Proud even if I wasn't perfect. Forever a work in progress.
And I'm actually looking forward to getting back into working out. When I win the lottery, I'm buying one of those super cool Tonal contraptions.
