I may have a small problem...

Recommended Posts

I’m currently on my second round of pre-op diet as I had a VSG in December 2019 and am having a revision to RNY in a few days but over the last year I’ve amassed quite a collection of Protein powder and drinks. I’ve gone through 2 other 2lb tubs of the Syntrax Nectars and I’ve lost count of the Protein Shakes. But yeah, I may be hoarding protein powder and shakes.

Anyone else do this? I need to know I’m not alone. 😂

Oh yeah, I have an entire cabinet devoted to all my Protein powders and stuff. Equate caramel is my favorite! My coworkers turned me on to it. Sometimes 3 or 4 of us have the same thing for lunch (and they haven't even had WLS). I also like the southwest chili Soup (and I bought the big bag, too, because it was 75% off).

I have a ton of Protein Powder - I'm sure I have 10 canisters in my cupboard and a bag or two in my oven (I store things in my oven when I'm not using it so the cats don't get into it!!)

That is hilarious, I thought I was the only one who did that. I did that for years to keep my German Shepherd from getting at stuff... till I moved to a place that had a different door on the oven that he worked out how to open...

I'd be in real trouble if my cats figured that out!!

Even after my VSG I was still drinking at least one a day, mostly for “breakfast” mixed with coffee seeing as I work nightshift on the weekends and the thought of eating a full blown meal at 3pm when I wake up is a huge turn off.

I still drink one almost every day. I like them - and they're convenient. Plus I have a higher need for Protein than most WLS patients (100 grams a day), and if I have a Protein Shake as my morning snack, it's pretty easy to get to my protein goal.

I heard about using the Protein Shakes as coffee creamer on these boards and now it is all I use...you learn the most useful stuff here! But I'd be afraid to store stuff in my oven--I'd forget it was there and turn on the "Preheat"...I HAVE stored things in the microwave since I don't preheat it...

I have a shelf in my pantry with 3 or 4 flavors and a canister of unflavored. I always keep some on hand. I use the unflavored when I have yogurt for Breakfast for an extra Protein boost. I typically don't drink Protein Shakes regularly, but I keep the others when I feel I need to re-focus and get back on track.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
