Things I won't miss about being fat!

Ok, am I really the only one who LOVES wearing black leggings now that I’m smaller??

I NEVER wore leggings when I was bigger (I remember feeling fat in them), and always wore jeans (and always dark wash jeans, lol).

I heart leggings!

I feel the same way! At my current weight, I would never leave my house in leggings because I feel like they leave too little to the imagination. I wear dark wash, bootcut jeans 99% of the time that I am in public. I hope that I lose enough weight that I can wear leggings in public someday.

...and also you could probably buy 6 pairs of leggings for the same amount of money as one pair of jeans, lol

Leggings for the win 😎

I won't miss being able to go on vacation in the summer and going to the pool with my daughter in a pair of shorts and tee shirt.

I won't miss hiding from the camera or only taking neck up pics and just the right angle.

I won't miss being so tried when I get home from work to help around the house and go and do stuff with my family.

I wont miss just being judge when I am with my husband who is 160 pounds and people eyeing us.

I won't miss feeling uncomfortable in every social situation - meeting new people because I'm fat, Seeing old friends because I'm embarrassed with how fat I've gotten since I saw them last.

I won't miss travelling the world and only taking pictures of the scenery or my friends.

I won't miss mentioning my weight in a joke or being self deprecating just so people know I am not oblivious to it, I am well aware of what's happening here.

Oh, one thing I want to add. I'm 5'3", and at my high weight of 393 I was probably as big around as I was tall, and my stomach touched the steering wheel in my car. It was very uncomfortable. I am 343 now and my stomach no longer touches the steering wheel and I sure won't miss that!

I won’t miss going to the beach with my family and having to stay back about 300m from the Ocean while they play in the surf because I can’t walk that far. (Like today.) 😢

I won’t miss having to stand around when at someone’s house and they’re all sitting outside in those cheap plastic chairs... “naw I like to stand...”(lie). when the reality is I’ve busted out the legs on them more than once....

Soooo many things I won't miss, but the top of the list for me ..... driving with my toes because I've had to push the seat back as far as it goes to get behind the wheel.

On a related note: I won't miss being unable to see the clock in my car because I have to raise the steering wheel so high (to make room for my belly) that it blocks my view. I still have a long way to go before I'm not fat (not sure if I'll ever get to that point), but I can now put the steering wheel at a height that doesn't block the clock!

I hope this isn’t offensive but I won’t miss not being able to properly wipe and wash my butt because my arms can’t reach around fully! I love my bidet but hey, It’s a plus to do it myself!
I won’t miss not being able to see my Vagina! I ain’t seen her in years and I’m looking forward to our Eye to eye reunion!

I won’t miss not being able to fit in the clothes I like and being forced into the “old lady” fat fashions.

I won’t miss not being to tie my shoes.
I won’t miss being mistaken for being pregnant!
I won’t miss difficult sex with my husband because I’m too big to drop it likes it’s hot when it’s not! Lol

I won’t miss hating to go to my basement because I hate how tired I am coming up the stairs.
I won’t miss my rants over using the proper angle to take pics so I can create the illusion of being smaller.

I won’t miss-

that fear in people’s eyes when I board a plane, or the fear I have that someone as big as me will sit next to me.

going to sporting events and have to wedge into the narrow seat and be uncomfortable the hole time

not being to find anything in my size that looks good.

TMI- the fat roll beneath my waist

not being able to keep my pants up without making my belt feel like a tourniquet

Hating going to the beach or a pool where I will need to take my shirt off

being the fattest guy in the room

not being able to go hiking with my son (or if we do, it is much slower than he wants to go)

not being able to jog

using a CPAP

feeling like a loser when I see friends or former classmates I haven’t seen in a few years

not getting the job after they see how fat I am

having boobs bigger than my wife’s

I don’t miss hiding in the back in pictures. I don’t miss crying in dressing rooms. I don’t miss standing next to my tiny sisters and crying when I get home bc we had to take a family picture and stand side by side. I still cry when I see those pictures. I do miss being able to lose 5 lbs in a day 😂. Now 5lbs is super hard work to take off lol.

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.

Oh yeah, something I wanted to rant about, a billing dispute that cropped up 3 months ago.
Surgery was in August of 2023. A bill shows up for over $7,000 in January. WTF? I asks myself. I know that I jumped through all of the insurance hoops and verified this and triple checked that, as did the surgeon's office. All was set, and I paid all of the known costs before surgery.
A looong story short, is that an assistant surgeon that was in the process of accepting money from my insurance company touched me while I was under anesthesia. That is what the bill was for. But hey, guess what? Some federal legislation was enacted last year to help patients out when they cannot consent to being touched by someone out of their insurance network. These types of bills fall under something called, "surprise billing," and you don't have to put up with it.
      https://www.cms.gov/nosurprises
I had to make a lot of phone calls to both the surgeon's office and the insurance company and explain my rights and what the maximum out of pocket costs were that I could be liable for. Also had to remind them that it isn't my place to be taking care of all of this and that I was going to escalate things if they could not play nice with one another.
Quick ending is that I don't have to pay that $7,000+. Advocate, advocate, advocate for yourself no matter how long it takes and learn more about this law if you are ever hit with a surprise bill.

Some days I feel like an infiltrator... I'm participating in society as a "thin" person. They have no idea that I haven't always been one of them! 🤣

Thank you everyone for your well wishes! I totally forgot I wrote an update here... I'm one week post op today. I gained 15 lbs in water weight overnight because they had to give me tons of fluids to bring my BP up after surgery! I stayed one night in the hospital. Everything has been fine except I seem to have picked up a bug while I was there and I've been running a low grade fever, coughing, and a sore throat. So I've been hydrating well and sleeping a ton. So far the Covid tests are negative.
I haven't been able to advance my diet past purees. Everything I eat other than tofu makes me choke and feels like trying to swallow rocks. They warned me it would get worse before it gets better, so lets hope this is all normal. I have my follow up on Monday so we'll see. Living on shakes and soup again is not fun. I had enough of them the first time!! LOL

Still purging all of the larger clothing. This morning, a shirt that I ADORED wearing ended up on top. Hard to let it go, but it was also hard to let go of those habits that also no longer serve my highest good. Onward and upward!
