Please Help! Surgery tomorrow, threw up bowel prep

Recommended Posts

Drank the magnesium citrate about required for surgery tomorrow and threw up about 10 minutes after finishing it. Did this happen to anyone else? I don’t know who to call on a Sunday for info. I did take 2 dulcolax this morning (also required as part of bowel prep).

You can buy more magnesium citrate at most stores with the other stool softeners and laxatives.

I never had to take that as part of my prep so unsure what your doctor would want but call their on call to see what they say.

you can buy it at Walgreens. I'd just go get another bottle.

I didn't have those instructions, either. I did take a suppository that morning just to be on the safe side.

This is my 5th bariatric surgery and I’ve had to drink the magnesium citrate very time the day before. Never had an issue. But this is also the first time I had to take dulcolax and that hit me hard within an hour after I took it. I think between that and whatever I kept down from the MC, I should be ok for tomorrow.

Thanks for all your replies! I was definitely in panic mode.

5th surgery well I hope this one works for you. I had the RNY bypass as my first and only surgery and it's been amazing :)

Yes, my 5th :(

Lapband, lapband revision die to slippage, lapband removal due to erosion, gastric sleeve and now bypass. Sleeve worked great, but ended up with severe heartburn and damage to my esophagus. Hopefully this will resolve that!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
