I had surgery at Sibley, but not through United Health Care. I had CIGNA, and the Dr. Lamond advocated with them on my behalf to get them to cover my surgery, which they initially denied. By the way, Dr. Lamond is amazing and I enthusiastically recommend her (and her entire staff) !!

Thank you!!! I love Dr. Lamond and her staff. My paperwork was submitted today. I'm trying to see what people with GEHA (UHC) paid as their out of pocket expense. Considering switching insurance in Oct/Nov during federal open enrollment. I know people who used FepBlue and paid $250.

Hi! I realize that I don’t have all the details here, but want to share some thoughts as a Fed too.

If you change insurance this open season, your new plan won’t start until January. Also, I’m thinking you’ll have to start over with the all the pre-auth stuff because you’ll have a new company with new rules. FEP Blue is BC/BS and I was told they require 6 months of dieting prior to surgery. UHC doesn’t. At least not for me. I suggest checking it out beforehand. Plan coverage differs within the fed gov (I’m VA). If this isn’t an issue for you then, great!

Good luck and stay healthy!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
