Is it normal to have poop with a ball of gas 3 days into Gastric Sleeve surgery?

Recommended Posts

Hi all, I had my surgery on May 20, 2020, My first day and second day were good until I could introduce cream of Soups to my diet, and Protein Shakes. Now I go to bathroom (#2) at least three times a day. Is this normal? Also my shoulder hurts every time I try to belch.

They fill your abdomen with gas during surgery to inflate the area so they can see what they are doing. The gas has to then find its own way out of your body & causes side effects like the shoulder pain.

The cream Soups could be too rich for you. I was told to stick to Clear Liquids to begin like broths & stock-based soups with the Protein Shakes for the first couple of weeks. Remember you just had surgery on your stomach it needs to be treated gently for a while. The creamy soups could also be stirring up a lactose sensitivity. You’ll soon be experiencing the opposite effect of having wls - Constipation.

What Protein Shakes did you do? My doc told me to use boost, however it has 16gs of sugar and I just bought premier Proteins that has 1 g of sugar and 4 carbs. Is this ok to do? I will call my doctor in the morning, just trying to get answers from others as well.

Yea I was only on shakes and Water for a while and had a few clear broths in Hospital noting with cream in it.. something may be reacting inside causing you to dump?

I use Premier and it was okayed by my program but definitely always check with your program too. I also seem to be rejecting things with dairy.

Yes. I’ve never had more gas in my life until I had this surgery.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
