Congratulations! I know it probably doesn't feel like it right now, but you just made the best choice of your life take it slow and don't expect too much from your body! Remember, your new little belly is healing from major trauma and I promise it geys better day by day! Don't be afraid to take your prescribed pain meds and sleep, especially those first couple days. Just a tip though, try to get in a couple ounces of Water before you fall asleep so you don't have to catch up on hydration when you wake up. Best of luck! Take care!

All this support is awesome! I'm also fresh out of surgery (2 days). FFmedicgrl, I'm sorry to hear about your throat pain. I've experienced that in other surgeries, and it's a terrible complication. Hopefully that part improves soon.

I am having a hard time taking in liquid too, but it's because every time I do, my shoulders and chest start hurting terribly. Yesterday, I tried to get in an ounce of Gatorade every 10 minutes, but only reached about 12 ounces before it gave me bouts of diarrhea. Since then, I can take in very little without pain. Could I have messed something up yesterday?

Hi there! I’m 6 days post gastric bypass & having a tough time getting liquids in. Seems to be so much pressure inside & when I do drink it’s like I get instant gas! Thank you for all the encouragement so far!

This is me! I’m day 1 post-op and the gas is relentless. I have walked and walked and like you, everytime I try to get all of my liquids in it seems to cause even more gas pain. I’m so ready for it to be gone! 😫

Same thing happening here. This is my 2nd day post-op. My chest and back is starting to hurt badly each time I drink. I’m thinking that maybe I was taking in too many fluids yesterday or something. Yesterday, I was able to get fluids down steadily. Today, it seems like there is more gas pain and significant chest and back pain when drinking, so I haven’t been drinking nearly as much.

Postop Day 2: I was given Rx for chewable simethicone (GasX). Really got things rumbling and my belly doesn't feel like tight balloon this AM. Found heating pad helped a lot. Using baby sippy cup with suck valve removed. Really stops guzzling.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
