Motivation can be likened to an emotion, it peaks and it troughs. It can't be relied upon to get you through. What gets you through is commitment to yourself and health goals.

What stage are you at? What are you having difficulty with?

I told myself for YEARS that I was going to have WLS! I kept putting it off. I had a good reason in 2016 and 2017 due to massive TN flares that ended in me having brain surgery to (temporarily) get rid of it, but had no excuse in 2018, I just procrastinated and had no motivation even though I DID want to lose weight. Then my sister gave birth to my niece in 2019 and I realized that if I didn't do something I likely wouldn't be around to watch her grow up. My health wasn't the best and as the years passed it was like more things just got piled on and I had kept using those as excuses as to why NOT to do the surgery. But the birth of my niece was the catalyst that pushed me into doing something about it. I had to do six months of weigh-ins and although I didn't have to actually lose any weight I was just asked not to GAIN, I still dieted. I chose to start cutting out the foods that I wouldn't be able to eat any way like soda, rice, Pasta, bread, potatoes, Beans, etc. on a month to month basis. I ended up losing 64 pounds before my surgery. And I've lost 33 pounds more in the seven weeks since I had my surgery.

Motivation is something you have to find for yourself. Look at those around you and look at yourself. Is your health good or is it declining? If it's hard to push for the weight loss for yourself then try to do it for your family or friends because they most definitely want and need you in their life!

I hope that you can find your own motivation to push you forward, and I wish you the very best!

My motivation came as I was recovering from domestic violence in my last relationship. I had to move away from the area and move in with my family after he took everything from me. I’ve spent the last year in therapy and healing. I moved on March 16th 2019. I gained about 70 to 80 pounds in the last year and half of our relationship. I was eating and drinking alcohol for comfort.
Part of regaining control of my life and independence has been this process. I’m grateful to be a year out from the madness of past life and grateful for this new journey becoming the woman I know I am, I can be and will be.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
