What is a girl to wear?

Recommended Posts

Ok my surgery date is February 27th. I went today to get stuff for my hospital stay (pajamas, robe, shoes ect). Came home with nothing. I have real dilemmas here. I don't wear pj's at home just wear mostly oversized tees! I guess I am being OCD about this because I don't want to spend a lot of money on something that is not going to fit very long. I keep thinking do I need pajamas with a button up front? I also don't want anything hot like flannel, plush ect! I don't know what shoes to get. I usually just wear some very comfy flip flops (yellowbox) at home. I really don't know what to get!

I brought a robe and PJ pants. They didn't even make it out of my bag (along with other things I thought I needed but didn't). Just ended up wearing 2 hospital gowns: one opening at the back, and another one on top opening at the front (I was only at the hospital for one night).

I did however use the crocs I brought so I could do my laps around the hallways.

Other things that I brought and actually used: lip balm & biotene spray (for my dry throat).

Good luck on your surgery!

you won't need any sleeping clothes at the hospital. You'll be in a hospital gown the whole time.

I took a thin robe and a pair of Birkenstock sandals which is what I wear as house shoes at home. I did wear the robe over my hospital gown when I was up walking around.

Like ms.sss, I had 2 hospital gowns and that was it. I took a robe and never unpacked it. I also took slippers but didn't end up using them, just the nonslip socks the hospital gave.

In general I bought a bunch of things for the first few weeks that I really didn't end up needing.

I ended up having to stay three nights in hospital because of back spasms. I was made to get up on day two to have a shower & to put on my pjs. So glad I threw in extra pjs & knickers because on day three I experienced some awful and very unexpected diarrhoea thanks to all the laxatives I had been given. Not pretty. 😱 I found putting on clean pjs each day just made me feel better.

Understand not wanting to buy pjs when you don’t wear them, but maybe find some track pants (soft, loose, drawstring waist are most comfortable immediately after surgery) even from a local 2nd hand shop & wear with your T shirts. I lived in soft track pants after my surgery.

And yes to non slip shoes for doing your laps around the ward.

Good luck 😁

You won't need pajamas or robe. You'll stay in your hospital gown where there's a pocket for the heart monitor you'll be on and your arm will be tethered with the IV line, so you won't be able to change into pajamas anyway.

I did use my robe to walk around the hospital. I bought a new one as a little lift me up before surgery, it is bright and fluffy and has a tie, so I figure I can wear it for a long time. Otherwise, I was in a hospital gown and the non-skid socks they give you.

I brought an extra large shirt and yoga pants to wear home.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
