Extra meal replacement shake on preop

Recommended Posts

How many days left until your surgery and how many days into the pre-op stage?

Are you doing three shakes a day or two shakes plus a Protein and veg meal? If having a meal, it may be useful to top up on low starchy veges the next few days.

Right now, better to have something protein..so I'd be having another shake or perhaps some protein (high protein yoghurt, cottage cheese or an egg - even a small piece of chicken)

Make sure the hunger isn't thirst...you can do this by having a glass of Water if you are still feeling hungry after 15 minutes have something to eat

you're not finding it on Google because all surgeons have different requirements. I was allowed to have 4-5 shakes a day, plus all the ultra-low or no-calorie fluids I wanted (Crystal Light, Water, etc). No food or higher-calorie beverages. Some people are allowed to have one small meal a day. Some people are on the pre-op diet for a week, some two, some three, some aren't required to do a pre-op diet at all.

I'd ask your clinic that question since it's their requirement...

As previous poster stated, all doctors are different. Mine wanted me to do lower Protein shakes (15-20g) so i could have 5 or 6 a day. His only rule was dont go over 120g protein a day on the shakes.

Each doctor has a different requirement. Mine was < 1500 calories/day, so the # of shakes could add up to that total.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
