could you eat and drink normal after bypass revision

Recommended Posts

I had revision surgery Feb 3rd (6 days ago) from mgb to full bypass due to acid reflux. I have felt from the beginning I could probably drink as much as I want and don't have to take tiny sips like I did with the mgb. I even had a Protein Shake and some cream Soup today, a day early, with no problems. The doctor said he didn't do anything to my pouch other than fix the hiatal hernia. I'm guessing that's why I'm having such an easy time drinking whatever I want. I'm not complaining but just wondering if anyone else with the same revision has had this experience.

I had RNY bypass revision after lapband done in 2013 about 2 weeks ago and I am able to drink Water without sipping also and I am on Presoft foods already per my doctor stating in paperwork if I felt ok to move to Presoft go forward so that consist of Soups, unsweetened applesauce and Oikos Triple Zero yogurt and I have been fine I have appt today for my two week follow up but I had a very bad allergic reaction and I am on three meds to help me not get a ulcer and prednisone to help with the itchy, red breakout. It’s been only two days since I been on the prednisone but I can tell it’s working already still a little itchy but the rash is fading. I think it’s just us healing but the food part is weird bc I thought it would feel major restrictive like the band was but it’s not been so far hopefully our pouch is fine.. I’ll let you know what the doctor states today about us being able to drink n soups two weeks in a no restriction feeling yet? Thanks for sharing also I really can relate.😊

you won't feel the restriction until you move to solid foods.

Nearly the same as with my VSG, but every case will be different because specific revision techniques will vary surgeon to surgeon.

when I went from the sleeve to the mgb I had a hard time with drinking. I could only sip very slowly and I felt a lot of restriction even with fluids, but he did make my sleeve into a pouch so the stomach was altered where this time it wasn't.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
