Hurts to drink water

I have a hard time getting all of the 48-64 ounces of water down mainly because it hurts when it hits my stomach. I have tried warm liquids, room temperature water but it still hurts when it hits my stomach. Is that something anyone else has had happen?

  • Do not take Aleve!!!! Unless your doc says SPECIFICALLY you can have it! Aleve is an NSAID and most of us (RNY OR VSG) are told no NSAIDS forever. (I do know of some exceptions but they've been rare.)

No clue. We also don't have a pre-op liquid diet for 2 weeks and I was on my normal diet after 4 weeks post-op. Maybe my surgeon is just progressive? haha

That's 100% correct for bypass patients. Sleeve patients seem to be on the fence depending on the doctor.

My surgery was hell, I've got other 'make me feel like death' stuff going on too and I don't want more procedures, it scares me.

ARGH! I know you are probably right and @FluffyChix has mentioned it before too, but I am literally terrified of needing more stuff done aaaaaaaand what f I get stretched then eat too much? Although my weight is literally running off me at the moment, and I can't eat enough to maintain in the very near future. UGH GRRRRR and argh again. Sigh. And now look I'm hijacking someone else's thread.

Yes popsicles do work and I don’t get pain from them but I crave Water so I know I’m probably verging on possibly getting dehydrated. I still get 64 ounces of water in a day but it hurts to do so. My drs office thinks I’m taking too big of gulps. But it’s even when I take small sips.

Have you called them back and explained it is with small sips too? Hope you get sorted soon, I find it difficult wanting to guzzle my drink and not being able to, but I literally can't or I am doubled over. What kind of pain are you getting? How bad etc?
