So I’m 5 1/2 days post op from gastric bypass. Still having pain of course but I’m wondering about how long that lasts...pain feels like a pulling burning sensation. I’m not having any other symptoms with it so I’m sure it’s normal but I’m ready to not be in pain.

It varies with everybody, 6 weeks is the norm to be healed so I would say expect some pain that reduces with time for 6 weeks and if it stops before then, then that is great.

If you eat/drink too much you might get pain or if you do things that are too strenuous before your body is ready, just take regular paracetamol and give your body time to heal. It is major surgery after all.

You sound like you are doing really well, if the pain doesn't ease up over the next couple of weeks or gets worse or isn't controlled by analgesia then speak to your team :)

Its a good month but should calm down a little - It will mess with your head so try and plow thru it, I to this day have pain when i eat, Nothing i cant deal with but still a pain. It will all end at 6 months for sure, Took my brother that long - I had the same thing as you and every day it got less and less - Moving and walking around seemed to really help

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
