One factor is GERD which can be greatly improved by gastric bypass, but made worse with the sleeve. If GERD is already an issue, then it seems like an easy decision to have the bypass.

I feel it is the best available surgery and best chance of long term success and to help cure my diabetes and other issues. I didn't want to worry about having 2 surgeries if I went to vsg and had any issues or complications.

How do you know which surgery is best for you?

Hi, K. Lee, and welcome. Do lots of reading and educate yourself. I chose bypass because I had GERD, and I know I'm crazy, but I'm a recovering sugar addict, and wanted the fear of dumping that comes with bypass!! I'm very happy with my choice. Diabetes is gone, high blood pressure gone, knees feel better, etc. Of course the same would hold true if I'd had the sleeve, I'm just happy I had bariatric surgery!!

I felt the same way about sugar and dumping. Sugar is not something I should ever eat again, so why not seal the deal with bypass? No way I want to ever experience dumping!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
