My question is how are your families reacting to your decision to have WLS? Mine is currently in the denial phase. Doesn't want me to have it, says I'm too old, too out of shape, etc. He's afraid I think of me croaking on the table. I've started pulling articles about how safe the surgery is now and that it can be done into someone's 70s now. My surgeon will only go up to age 60 and I'm 55. I've researched the surgeries for the last decade and gone back and forth and been anti'd more than once by other people. This time, I'm doing it for my own self health. I'm afraid to tell anyone else because of the anti-surgery messages I got the last time a few years ago when I started the process. That's when I found Bariatric Pal. What a great forum this is!
Anyway, I got sidetracked. Any advice in how to raise your family's support of your decision?

My family is 100% behind me as usual. They know I'm going to do whatever I want, when I want so they have learned that I don't care what they say or think. Therefore, when I tell them what I'm going to do, they accept it and keep me in prayer. This time around, they see the problems I have been having, so they can't help but be supportive. O think they are more excited for me having the surgery than I am because they see the discomfort I am going through. 🤢 (nausea)

Sounds like you have a wonderful support system there, Lady VS. I think mine will come around eventually. Though, I guess, it really is up to just me as to how I do with it. The best support system can't eat for me, or anything. I'm the one who has to do the work. So, I guess I should stop worrying about it.

My husband and been awesome!! Supporting me each step of the way. I'm currently 11 days out and he's constantly telling me how proud he is for me sticking with it.

I think your husband just needs a little education. Yes in the beginning things will be a bit more restricted as far as going out to dinner etc, but nothing you can work through.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
