Once Insurance Approves Can They Take it Back?

Recommended Posts

The only way I can see that happening is if your Dr or hospital fell out of the guidelines required by insurance...ex. no longer a preferred facility or maybe your Dr changed hospitals that he uses. The later happened to me and I had to decide if I wanted to change Drs or go with the original to another hospital.

My MD said if the morning of surgery I weighed in with less than a 35 BMI they wouldn't do surgery since insurance will deny it. Otherwise I think you are good.

I will not get under the BMI limit by surgery so I don’t have that to worry about. My worry is that opposite actually...I was put on some blood pressure meds that made me gain around 15 lbs since my original consult. I have lost that weight but barely and worried I will weigh in a few lbs over my weight they saw me last even though I have been working hard to get things back under control.

once approved can insurance come back and decline my pre-auth?

@lingre

i have seen/heard from OP the same fear

some OP might have lost weight, way below the required BMI - w/no co-morbities

more often, i've seen OP scared because they gained a lot of weight- showing non-compliance

with their eating pre-op

After saying the above, watch your eating, don't worry too much, (gives you wrinkles!!)

doc might say you have to lose more weight before WLS, BUT i don't think

insurance can be taken away after it was approved

good luck

pre-op 4 week diet tomorrow! This is about to get real😀.

@lingre

great news!!! pre-op is challenging at times - you have a long hard road

ahead - ups and downs - but wonderful

you'll enjoy seeing "less and less" of yourself til you reach GOAL. butttttt,

the journey now continues/begins with proper eating/moderation et al for

the rest of your life.

The ends justifies the means!! you will do grrrrrreat!☺️

good luck

kathy

      I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

      Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
      Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

      Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
