A thread for us to share our daily menus!

To help keep things in perspective for everyone, let's try to note our height & weight (or BMI), gender, weight-status & how far out we are post-op (unless this is already stated in your side profile :))

Post as little or as much info as you want. If you track macros, feel free to share your protein, fat, & carb details...if all you feel like saying is you had a really yummy taco, that's cool too.

EDIT: Anyone can play! VSG, RNY, DS, etc... ♥️

Any level of participation is great :) ♥️

This a million times! :)

breakfast 3 cubes cantaloupe and 1/2 cup cottage cheese

Snack egg and grits. I did this in reverse

lunch parmesan crusted tilapia filet baked

Dinner stuffed pork chop 3-4 oz with asparagus and chopped salad

I wont be able to eat all of my dinner, so I will eat the rest as a snack later this evening. I also don't track anymore so I don't know my macros

THIS.

I'll be glad to participate because this helps a newbie like me a lot, but I'm still trying to figure out this eating thing....18 days out and having problems eating much of anything...been going back to protein shakes to meet goals.

Yay!

Even if you just post PROTEIN SHAKES x 3, that would be something, lol :)

Also, eating in the first month is def new and challenging...just do the best you can for now (and check in with your team ♥️) I barely ate anything my first month as well.

Protein powder in coffee.

Chicken creations pouch

Chicken pouch with marinara sauce and mozz cheese

323 cal

48 protein

6 carbs

Gonna choke down premier protein later and get protein up...outside all day today and its nasty hot and humid here in Arkansas...so used up most of my capacity trying to stay hydrated...over 100 oz's!

Today I am having

Breakfast 1 egg scrambled and 2 or 3 slices of bacon

Lunch 3 oz stuffed pork chop and asparagus ( last night leftovers )

Dinner teriyaki chicken with rice ( 3 oz chicken, 1/4 cup rice, 3 to 4 pineapple chunks )

If I have a snack it will be Chobani key lime yogurt and/or almonds. If I cant finish a meal ( which happens a lot still ) I go back and finish it later.

Totaling everything up with the yogurt I am hitting 841 calories. 72 carbs 29 fat 71 protein .

Sure does seem like this should be more than 841 calories and this is why I quit tracking. I would make sure I was getting in 1200 to 1500 calories and my weight would stay 10 to 15 pounds heavier then I am now when I tracked. I quit tracking this past Christmas and I still get my protein, so I happy.

5'2", ♀️ 9½ m PO, maintaining 114.4 lbs today

Yesterday, Sat Aug 10th:
Wasn't feeling too great when I got up, spent the entire morning and the first part of the afternoon veg-ing the couch on my laptop and watching tv. Decided to drag myself off the couch to go for a run/walk after the sad attempt at eating my first meal, and felt sooooooo much better afterwards. Endorphins are my friend!

Going to leave out most of the amounts of specific food items going forward...makes it easier to read:

Menu:

  • 2:30 pm: ** ate ¼ of this ** salad w/ vinaigrette + prosciutto + 2 eggs fried in butter + walnuts -- 425 cals
  • 4:00 pm: black coffee -- 4 cals
  • 4:30 pm: 4% cottage cheese + blueberries + pumpkin seeds + 75g avocado -- 302 cals
  • 6:30 pm: ** ate the rest of the 2:30pm meal **
  • 8:00 pm: ½ cup garlic roasted peanuts + 3oz chicharron -- 440 cals
  • 8:30 pm: protein shake + decaf coffee crystals + Benefibre -- 120 cals

Totals: 1291 cals, 106g Protein, 21g NET carbs, 84g fat

Exercise:

  • 6km of alternating 1km run then 1 km walk (1 hr)

Welcome to all our new participants! Yay!!!! We don't even care if you're pre-op. Your menu and insights and path are valuable to us all and help so many people!!! We all need inspiration--even if it's "What Not To Do at Almost 18months Post Op When Out For The Day With Friends" :) !! (As yesterday's menu will serve as a visual aid. LOL. I'm so lucky to have the scale stuck at 135lbs and not have it go up after a day like this.

But hopefully, you will see from this day that I do have days where I either eat, or eat craptastically and go over on my cals for losing in a huge way--including all manner of contraband foods that do not encourage health--but offer HUGE hedonistic food reward!

This morning although I'm not hungry yet, I have a big desire for more hedonistic shenanigans. I don't (am not ready) to eat my first meal of the day, but I don't feel like staying in and working or having a "work day" round the house. I want to be out with people and friends--and at the end of it--I want to have some kind of hedonistic meal. After a day like yesterday which is more than 1 day of Feasting during the week--I want MORE and MORE and MORE off plan days. That's the trouble with cheat days and my personality type. I do better with structure and rules and continuity and low reward, clean foods. My thoughts settle down, and normalize and I don't have these huge swings of cravings and head hunger.

Cuz even though yesterday was fun, I did not feel "awesome" after eating! In fact, I felt heavy, bloated, crampy colon (BAD) and nauseated. I had my support meeting yesterday and my RD (who has known me since before surgery) told me that I needed to step back a stage and should not be adding fiber. I need to go back to soft diet/full liquid diet for the next 2 weeks until I see my surgeon for my check-up. I will see my doc for my 18 month follow-up + the f/up for the twisted gut/hernia surgery. And RD and I both think that my gut is not back to normal yet and may still be having issues. So00000oooooo, ugh, back on a soft diet starting today. She said that until my gut is moving with normal motility it's asking for problems to dump a bunch of fiber into it and not helpful to make it "scrunch" and "churn" and "work" as hard as it has to with a normal diet. Can I just say yesterday I was in complete denial and had HUGE cognitive dissonance!

Oh well--today I WILL reign my wayward 2 year old in and put the brakes on her giving her structure and education!!! Will report how I succeed tomorrow!

I think if it isn't too inconvenient for your to take the time to post this, that THIS type of information is completely vital and useful to vets, sophomores, and newbies alike! Cuz we can "see" what someone is eating at X point in their life post surgery. That is so vital to make sure we're on track!

I am gonna continue posting my quantities cuz I do it anyway and record it in MFP, so maybe it will help someone see that you can "usually" eat in a controlled manner and still get TONS of healthy nutritious food. :)

But not everyone does that normally (tracks) and that's OK too. We want EVERYBODY here, even if they don't weigh/measure and only say things like:

b-protein coffee

msnack - Oikos cherry yogurt

l-tuna sandwich (1/2)

snack - gs apple + peanut butter

d-don't know yet

Just my opinion!!!!

Leftovers from last night: half burger patty with some hatch chili sauce.
3/4 cup salad mix.

I have no idea what I’m eating later bc I’m eating at my sisters house for a family bday.
Main goal there is to fill up on meat/salad and avoid any dessert.

5'2", ♀️ 9½ m PO, maintaining 113.8 lbs (this morning)

Yesterday, Sun Aug 11th:
Ate all my meals out yesterday, so all measurements are estimates. Totally over-stuffed myself at brunch (had to endure some chest pain for about an hour); grazed on junk all afternoon, and basically drank my dinner. Was a fun day though, despite my oh-so-not-nutritious-food-intake, and the minor hangover-ish feelings I have this morning.

Menu:

  • 8:00 am: chicken broth -- 8 cals
  • 12:30 pm: ¼ cup spinach + ⅛ tbsp balsamic vinaigrette + ⅔ meatball + ⅛ grilled yellow pepper + 1 slice bacon + 2 oz grilled chicken (dark meat) + 4 oz grilled sirloin + ⅛ slice grilled pineapple -- 353 cals
  • 2:00-5:00 pm: 1 oatmeal chocolate chip cookie + 100g chicharron + 1 tbsp apple cider vinegar -- 685 cals
  • 5:00-11:00 pm: 1 vodka caesar + 1½ glasses red wine + 2 gin & sodas -- 349 cals

Totals: 1395 cals, 108g Protein, 47g NET carbs, 55g fat

Exercise:

  • 6km of alternating 1km run then 1 km walk (1 hr)
  • Strength Training: Arms (15 mins)
  • Strength Training: Butt & Core (15 mins)
  • Multiple running cannonballs into the pool (all afternoon long...lol)

Sometimes when you play, you pay. :( Saturday's "Miss Adventures" landed me back 3 squares on the Candy Land game board. Oh well. It was totes worth it. But apparently my RDs advice of low residue, soft foods, full liquids/purees should be my friend for the next 2 weeks until I have my follow up with the surgeon. Today I'm firmly on board with her plan cuz I don't want another day like yesterday.
