I am at the very beginning of my journey. I just had my consult for gastric bypass surgery last Wednesday and already have my consult appointment for my endoscopy and my first nutrition appointment scheduled for next week. I love reading all the posts and seeing all the success stories! I will be posting my journey along the way. I have to have 6 months of nutrition classes as one of my insurance requirements, so I should be ready for surgery by January. Any and All advise is welcome 😊❤️

Welcome and good luck on your WLS journey. I learned so much here from reading the various boards and topics and it really helped me through the process.

Welcome to you @Sassylady1. My advice would be to be patient with this long process. In the end if you stick to the "rules" laid out to you by your program staff, you will be successful. If you stray, don't quit, pick yourself off and keep at it, but also, don't give yourself a reason to be tempted, either.

Others in your life may not understand what you're going through and don't expect them to. If you can get "bad things" that lead to temptation out of your house, do it, but if you're like me and have kids, getting through without snacking dangers in your home can be near impossible.

This process will require a lot of discipline, but you can do it. If you're not focused on the end goal, you will not succeed, but this is your best chance to get fit quick so don't waste it.

Good luck to you.

Hello again, I had my first dietician and exercise appointment on the 26th. It went really well. We discussed diet and exercise. Scheduled the rest of my appointments and my psych eval. Will have my EGD in August. I’m feeling very excited about my fresh start and ready to fast forward to surgery day 😃😃😃

I’m just starting as well. 6 months of classes and office visits. Having a hard time talking about this with my family. No one know but my husband. Trying to work through my thoughts on how to explain why I have chosen this journey.

Yay! I’m so excited you are having surgery in January! I just started my journey and I’ll be getting surgery late December early January. I joined this site recently and it seems like everyone is getting ready to have surgery soon. It’s nice to finally find someone to be in the beginning stages.

Hey y’all, so I’m reading over the findings from my EGD that was done this morning. It says I have a small hiatal hernia and that I have mild erosive gastritis. I don’t know anything about erosive gastritis, do y’all have any knowledge about this??? Also, I went into this procedure feeling fine and I woke up constantly sneezing and feeling like I have a cold. I have sneezed so much that my nose is now raw! Could that be a side affect of the anesthesia that they gave me? I just wish I could stop sneezing, lol.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
