Weight loss during nutrition counseling?

Recommended Posts

How much weight did you lose during physician supervised diet before your pre-op liver diet? I am in month 2 of my 3-6 months of nutrition counseling. My surgeon hasn’t given me a specific goal, maybe because my BMI is only 37? I’m having a hard time. The first month I gained 3 pounds. This month I am on track to lose a few. I’m just wondering what most people lose during this time. If I could lose weight easily I wouldn’t need surgery.

I had a BMI if 60.1 and before the 2 week pre-op I dropped 38lbs. I could have done more but I was also fighting an addiction to caffeine/soda so my nutritionist said focus on getting off that and we will worry about weight loss after surgery

I went up and down throughout the six months and ended up losing a paltry 1/2 lb. I was one who had a lot of food funerals because that's how I always did it before all of my big Monday diets I started in my past. It was my final farewell to all of my favorite foods. I don't recommend it though because it kept me from getting to my goal sooner. I'm always impressed with the ones who, even though they knew help was coming, didn't give in to the food funerals and actually lost quite a bit of weight pre op.

My insurance company required 6-month supervised weight loss. I had to prove I could change behaviors and lose weight before they would pay for the procedure. It was hard, But I lost 20lbs.

I lost 23 pounds in the 5 months prior to surgery. My clinic takes a pretty holistic approach with a lot of support.

I was required by my surgeon's office to lose 10% of my total weight during the 6-month lead-in to WLS. That should have been about 26lbs.

I began the program at 256lbs on my 1st weigh-in.

Surgery Wt was 222lbs.

I lost 34lbs on their weight loss plan.

I was never told to lose any amount of weight in my 3 months of supervision but I did lose about 25 lbs in the 4 months between my first doctor visit and my surgery day.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
