Stall? Eating schedule and habits?

Recommended Posts

Hey all!

I had my VSG done April 4, 2019. As of this morning, since surgery, I am down about 46 pounds. I have been at a stall for the last month. It seems that I keep floating within the same five pounds and cannot for the life of me break 200!

So here is where I am at with my thoughts about trying to figure this out still.....

Is this actually a stall? Or is this because of my eating schedule/habits?

I mostly just eat when I feel hungry (the real hungry, not bored hunger). So, if I have a nutritionally sound meal, say 2-3 ounces of chicken breast and some veggies. Do I stop eating that meal when I feel full, or am I supposed to continue eating it over time to get the nutrition in (like when some people say it takes them up to an hour to eat a meal)?

I hope what I am asking makes sense. Right now, I continue to pick at that meal over time until its gone. Should I just be 'done' with that meal once I feel full and not continue to pick at it?

Thanks for any help offered. I really do appreciate it!

Hey surgery twin! Congratulations on your weight loss so far. Looks like we've even lost around the same amount since surgery ( I lost a half pound pre surgery). I eat a little slower than I used to but stop when I'm full rather than eating the whole meal just because I don't have the patience or time to sit there and keep eating. I supplement with a Protein Shake on days I don't quite make my Protein goal.

Yay! Surgery twins! And thanks! Congrats to you too!!

So, I guess I need to pay attention and stop eating when I feel full, and then supplement as needed.

While I have you, what multi Vitamin do you take? I was taking the Bariatric Advantage chewables, but I just can't stomach them anymore and I have a hard time swallowing big tablets.

I take Flinstones complete twice a day one in the morning and one at night. It is what my nutritionist suggested.

Three months out from surgery, if you log food, you know that you are eating your weight loss calories and getting your Protein goal in each day. (Guessing my calories and goals never worked for me) Stop with the sensation of full. Some people have great surgery restriction. It may take more time or breaking up your meals to frequent intervals to hit your calories/macros.

Stalls happen. I had my first major stall my third month. It messed with my head. I had to evaluate how I was working my plan. I was slacking off on activity/exercise. Some advice I had from vet’s and a trainer. Don’t do the same type of exercise over and over. Mix things up to get the scale moving.

Here is a link to embrace the stall. It help me figure some things out.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
