GASTRIC BYPASS REVISE FROM GASTRIC SLEEVE

Can anyone tell me your experiences revising from the sleeve to the bypass? I'm hoping it will relieve my acid reflux, but I've heard it doesn't work.

  • I just had a bypass as a revision from a sleeve. It was done about 6 weeks ago, and the sleeve about 10 years ago. I had terrible reflux basically since the sleeve was done, as well as a hiatus

I think I have a vague understanding of why it works from how my doctor explained it to me. The part of the digestive system that creates the reflux is disconnected from the oesophagus and delivers the bile further down the system, meaning it can’t get back up and cause damage.
Please excuse the probably very bad explanation, but that was my (non-medical) understanding of it.
Good answer

And it will be a joy not to reflux, not to have that discomfort or the hiatal pain. And I am praying [emoji120]for a very smooth healing and an enhanced future for YOU!
Thank you so much, just waiting for insurance now.

Just finished all my requirements to get the gastric bypass all im waiting for are the blood tests results so now im on the long road to approval, hopefully it will just be a short road to yes

Congratulations and hope you get the surgery date soon!!

My surgery was 3 weeks ago and I haven't had much problem at all few minor things with weakness and dizziness, one of my incision started opening up after staples were taking up causing slight infection. Nothing major like some people have been having.

Fixing to be on stage 3 menu thankfully. Lol can't wait to get to maintenance level.

I have lost 22lbs since surgery. But I had gained 5 from fluids in the hospital.

Good luck with your blood work,

Allie in SC

I had gastric bypass and i no longer have acid reflux because they were able to repair hiatal hernia . They told me that they could no repair it if I had gastric sleeve. I am 5 years out and no reflux !!!

Great explanation!

I had it done in March- so grateful my surgeon did it, it's been amazing to be reflux free. I had a pretty severe case that about 2% of sleeves fall into.

I go on Monday. I’m so nervous.

I had a revision to bypass from sleeve for severe reflux issues. I wish I had started out with the bypass in the first place. It is like night and day difference to not have that constant reflux happening.

I just had the revision for reflux. Granted I'm barely on the moist diet but I haven't had any reflux since surgery.
