Frustrated, need advice.

Recommended Posts

I had gastric sleeve In 2018. I was 232 I'm now 127. I have excess skin on my stomach I saw a plastic surgeon to see about having it removed. They did a nicotine test, which I thought no big deal because I've never smoked. It came back positive for continine! I'm in shock, I asked the lady how's that possible because I don't smoke nor have I ever but I'm around a lot of secondhand smoke and I roll my husband tobacco so I'm always handling it thinking maybe that's it. She says no and that I need to quit but how am I supposed to quit something I don't do?? Has this happened to anyone? I'm so frustrated I don't know what to do.

Thanks everyone . I talked to me PCP and she went over the results with me. The medical assistant in the plastic surgeons office told me both my blood and urine came back positive and I should get OTC gum or Patches, which I don't need because I don't smoke! but my PCP told me only my urine was positive but with only a small amount which would indicate exposure to smoke not that I actually smoke. Which makes more sense because I'm around a lot of secondhand smoke. I just think it was rude the medical assistant didn't want to listen to me at all, like I was making excuses, no I was Justin trying to understand why it would be positive. Needless to say I have to wait another 6 weeks to be retested. Which is ridiculous.

Yeah pretty silly, like you're a Smoke Carrier even though you don't smoke. Take plenty of outside walks instead of staying onside the house, and it might be a Good Time to remind Hubby his smoke doesn't affect only him but you too.
This reminded me of a thought rather sad. When my 31 year old died suddenly, one of the doctors tried to tell me there was a presence of drugs in his blood work. Now I know such a report could be common these days, but I knew my son, I protested -No No that had to be wrong! Doctor shrugged his shoulders, told me our local Water tests often positive for drugs, has to due with them being flushed into sewage systems upstream, certainly made me around of the poor job d9ne by our local water authority. And people ask ME why I drink Bottled Water? Last year my co-residents got a letter stating the toxic minerals our local water, which comes from artesian aquifers, not surface water, stupid. ex-doctor pulled a "boner" there, at any rate, they say " it shouldn't hurt the consumer badly" Yeech!

I can sense your frustration on this, and that absolutely suck$.

Stop rolling cigs for hubby. Make all smokers go outside to smoke, they should already know better and so should you.

The lab results are the lab results. They cannot differentiate between secondhand smoke and a smoker, so man up and stop blaming them.

Start seeking a cleaner environment and get retested. Good luck.

Why on earth have they done a nicotine test, never heard of anything so ridiculous. Yes yes, it can affect healing but testing for it? Craziness. Also if it was a urine test they are often wrong and you should ask for another from a NEW packet. When we drug test urine we often have to retry with a new packet if the patient is adamant it is false and we get a lot of false positives.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
