So I got my insurance approval and am waiting on my final nutritionist consult where they review the 2 week diet. I’m really concerned about this phase. How did you get through your days at work not wanting to turn into a terror on people. I like the sensation of eating so this whole idea of nothing but liquid is worrying me that I’m gonna end up in jail for smacking someone. Please help me overcome this panicking feeling I’ve got going on.

My surgery isn't until July 8. Two weeks ago, I started by drinking a Protein Shake for Breakfast. Last week, I drank one for breakfast and one for lunch. Next week, I will move to total liquids. I have gotten to the point where I am not hungry during the day at all. I "think" it won't be too terrible transitioning to all liquids because I've been preparing myself. Of course, that's what I think BEFORE I've done it! Who knows. I'm a little nervous, too.

If it's a consolation, I don't really remember too much about that time (at 11 months out). It ended up being not as bad as I'd feared and just another step toward something I was working really hard for. As for preferring "eating" over "drinking", I ate sugar free popsicles and Jello, so I could chew something....

I think it could depend on how long ago you started the pre-op diet from your first nutritional visit. If you're already used to drinking shakes, etc, then the 2 week pre-op diet shouldn't be too hard, you're just adding a couple more shakes to the day and eating some yogurt, popsicles, etc.

My nutritionist considered cottage cheese to be a liquid, so I took full advantage of that fact. I only had to do Clear Liquids the day before and the week after surgery.

Just make sure you stay busy and the two weeks will go by fast enough. You'll be too excited for the upcoming procedure to worry about eating anyways. Drink more Water than you ever have before too, that helps a ton.

Good luck to you

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
