Starting to feel very, very scared

Recommended Posts

As my anesthesiologist told me right before the surgery “what wouldn’t be normal is not being scared”.

It was my first surgery ever and lots of things went through my head. But truth is that the only “bad” day was the first one. And the pain was really manageable with the meds they gave me. I even refused stronger pain meds on the second day after having an allergic reaction to one of them.

Recovery is tough on the mind, but it’s all about using all the tools you have around and trusting your support system.

I’m getting a bit frustrated at the time, but am trying to focus on the light at the end of the tunnel. Doctor said my life expectancy was being cut short by 10 years if I continued on that path, and that certainly freaked me out more than anything I’ve gone through since surgery.

You should have some fear of course. It’s normal. Im 2 weeks post op, and even when the pain was the worst I don’t regret this. That doesn’t mean it’s been mentally easy even these first few weeks but I am so excited to “start over” my relationship with food and teach myself to eat only what is good for me, nutritious and in the best interest of my health. I already feel better and have more energy so I can’t imagine how I will feel in 3 months or 6 or 12. I would do it again in a minute. And I wish I had done it sooner.

I'm getting sleeved in 15 days, and my biggest fear is...pain. I have a pathetically low threshhold. I'm having this done in Mexico and have been instructed to bring $50 for post-surgical meds...I think I'll earmark triple that amount. I wish I was kidding.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
