Thats awesome!!! Im already getting super nervous! They told me to start the preop diet July 22. Are you starting that the same day as me?

I only have a 1 week diet so I start the 29th. It’s a different diet then I’ve seen on here, it’s full liquids with also 2 servings of either fruit or vegetables a day.

Same! Good luck!
Secretly concluding food funerals [emoji85][emoji85][emoji85]
I hear you.

But honestly we will be fine! Constantly reminding ourselves that we have eaten all of these foods before and look where it landed us. After a while on a healthy diet, we lose that zest for the unhealthy ones (so I hear!). Mentally prepare for the first week being arduous and once that scale states to speak to us, we'll get over the angst of comfort food.....and if not, getting slender will be worth it regardless!

We'll rock this!![emoji112][emoji112][emoji112][emoji112][emoji106][emoji106]

I know how it feels! I finished all my requirements before February and it took 4 months for them to send in the correct paper work. The first time was that the psych evaluation didn’t say passed or not pass , we had to wait on that and then they finally got it in after 45 day requirement so I had to resubmit for an appeal because my insurance needed it within 45 days but they took longer, after the appeal I get another letter saying they needed the psych evaluation office notes and finally March 30th is when I got the call from my surgeons office that I got approved and later on that week I received the insurance letter that says approved. I originally got a July 8th day but because of my work schedule being already set till mid August I changed my surgery day to August 19th (sleeve)
So happy for you that it is now scheduled and hopefully wrote in stone. I am glad someone understood my situation and had been there done that. Thanks

Me too! I had the option to have it on August 1st but chose to do it a bit later. Are you going through insurance or paying privately. I’m in Canada, where abouts are you?

I am in Colorado. My insurance wouldn’t approve me so I am self pay. I could have scheduled much sooner, but between giving my job notice of leave and the kids home on summer break, it just makes more sense to wait. I’m glad to find this support group and a surgery twin! My family and close friends who know what I am doing have been very supportive thankfully, but they haven’t been through this themselves.

Of course! Glad I caught your post on here. It for sure is upsetting, every 2 weeks I was calling “has my psych evaluation been sent to you guys (my surgeons office) correctly yet” until they told me yes or I got the call saying they are putting in a appeal. I feel like some times you have to be the one nudging them to get it done correctly to show that you really want it and your ready.... don’t let it get you stressed out! I know for me it did and when I’m stressed I eat whatever and since all that happened and till when I received my approval call, I gained 15lbs and now have 12lbs to lose to get back where I was by August 12 (is when I have my Preop appointment/ next time I see my surgeon)

Hopefully your 1 week goes by fast! They told me to do two weeks of liquid with one small meal per day. I wonder how much we'll be suffering during this liquid stage though.

Although I've heard that losing weight before surgery is important to lower your risk, I just cant help but think about trying to squeeze in my favorite meals before the liquid diet 😂 Im pretty sure Korean BBQ is out the window once I get sleeved...

I was trying to lose than talk to Surgeons nurse she said if you lose under your BMI you won't be approved for surgery. Now my Primary Doctor set me up with a nutritionist, which I have not called back for an appointment. May schedule it for education purposes but I will have a Nurtionist in the Surgeon's office, which will be better informed about bastric diets. I just can't start going on a regular visits and start losing then can't have surgery, than gain all weight back and be where I started. Right now I am depressed and want this to hurry up, I've probably gained because I've been eating a lot. My scales are off so not sure what I weigh. Good luck Bianca you well be there before you know it.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

Iʻm roughly 6 weeks post-op this morning and have begun to feel like a normal human, with a normal human body again. I started introducing solid foods and pill forms of medications/supplements a couple of weeks ago and it's really amazing to eat meals with my family again, despite the fact that my portions are so much smaller than theirs.
I live on the island of Oʻahu and spend a lot of time in the water- for exercise, for play,  and for spiritual & mental health. The day I had my month out appointment with my surgeon, I packed all my gear in my truck, anticipating his permission to get back in the ocean. The minute I walked out of that hospital I drove straight to the shore and got in that water. Hallelujah! My appointment was at 10 am. I didn't get home until after 5 pm.
I'm down 31 pounds since the day of surgery and 47 since my pre-op diet began, with that typical week long stall occurring at three weeks. I'm really starting to see some changes lately- some of my clothing is too big, some fits again. The most drastic changes I notice however are in my face. I've also noticed my endurance and flexibility increasing. I was really starting to be held up physically, and I'm so grateful that I'm seeing that turn around in such short order.
My general disposition lately is hopeful and motivated. The only thing that bugs me on a daily basis still is the way those supplements make my house smell. So stink! But I just bought a smell proof bag online that other people use to put their pot in. My house doesn't stink anymore.
