last minute cold feet?

Recommended Posts

Have my date in mid-April and am excited / nervous at the same time? anyone ever back out / get cold feet?

Two last concerns at this point - what if there's meaningful progress in a different tech over the next year - am i jumping the gun. thought i knew everything and tonight ran across endoscopic sleeve gastroplasty - anyone heard of or considered?

Last one is choice of surgeon. Really like my doctor, but when i tried to search for any references on here - haven't seen anything. is he just too new? I'll be at USC keck. Anyone have particularly good or bad experiences there?

It's normal to get cold feet as the surgery date gets closer, but hang in there and it'll be one of the best decisions you've ever made for your health.

If you were diagnosed with Cancer, would you discuss waiting for treatment for a year or two in hopes that better treatments were available in the future?

Obesity is a disease and many people that have had surgery wish they had done so sooner, not later.

I get what you are saying but Please don’t compare obesity to cancer 😬

Well they are scarcely the sane but still ridding yourself of Obesity. can be equally a treacherous undertaking. A life - alter- ing and scary thing to do or have happen to you. And with both, you wonder if you'll be able to live through it all. At least at 73, that was it for me. Oh I wanted weight loss surgery, but inside, WAS IT GOING TO KILL ME, WOULD I LIVE PAST MY SURGERY? At over 70, there is a Real Chance,of never waking up!
Oh I did live, lost 80 pounds in 7 months, but I wanted to believe, but still not sure the stories were true, maybe I would be the Bad Exception they talk about. Inside I was cold clear up to my knees!
But it is Good, all good., even for fat old also-rans like ME!I

My surgeon wasn’t listed on here at the time of my surgery either but was quickly afterwards. They are constantly updating the list. I couldn’t have been happier with my choice so I wouldn’t let that concern you 👍🏻

My Doctor/surgeon is not referenced anywhere here either. He is highly rated, young and a great surgeon. I didn’t think to check here, I just looked up ratings, reviews locally.

My surgery date is mid May and I'm already getting cold feet. I keep wondering what if something goes wrong, what if they discover terrible side effects years down the road? I suppose this is normal?

I just had my sleeve done. I was wondering many of the same things with regard to new technology. I found quite a few cool devices that are being tested but it will be years before they would go to the market, if at all. I still feel the VSG is a rather safe way and really a brilliant concept. It's just a tool, though. We still have to have some healing in our brains... takes more than just the surgery, I think, to make us function better than before. I have a therapist lined up and plan to attend groups when I'm healed.

You sound like an analyzer like me! I know after reading and researching, that the sleeve was what I needed.... even though it was a scary decision.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
