At my clinic this morning the surgeon asked me if I was having any trouble eating. I told him that I was doing okay but it was frustrating to me that soupy oatmeal is harder to get down than bean soup. He told me that I just need to be patient and to realize that my stomach is like a newborn’s now and I have to gradually train it to tolerate tougher foods. The key is not to force it and to sensibly eat the textures and amounts of food I can tolerate. So I’m going to keep going slow and I’m going to give “new” foods a try very carefully.

Just found this forum. Sleeved March 26th and doing well. Down 30 and excited about the pureed diet.
I'm staying hydrated which has always been a habit since I live at 9000ft altitude. I'm getting in my walking too.
No more diabetes meds/insulin. That was my biggest goal and this has me over the moon!
Slightly concerned about remaining food cravings, but I'm doing pretty good trying to ignore them.
    Me <---- Blessed

featherbird007 got a reaction from Erica_B in Hiatal Hell! Anyone experience pain when drinking???
I had my sleeve surgery on the same day as you AND they fixed a hiatal hernia. I can swallow liquids but have to watch the frequency and amount I'm swallowing. My tummy will let me know by giving a feeling of "a burp that doesn't come out" kind of pain that lasts a few seconds in the chest area.
We are still very inflamed. I see that I'm able to swallow more than I did the first few days. Swallow less... it'll get better.

I was sleeved on Wednesday 2/20 and felt great by Monday, I have a desk job and returned back to work on Tuesday 2/26. I am now 6 weeks out and feel amazing, this is definitely the best thing that I have ever done for myself, I did have the dreaded 3 week stall that last 10 days, but I am now loosing again and eating much more 'normal' foods. Hoping that you continue feeling great!!

I don’t know about you, but I almost feel like I have VSG fatigue. By that, I mean I think I’ve looked at every video on YouTube dealing with guys going thru this as well as read this site for the past 12 months. It almost feels anticlimactic getting to the end of my pre-op journey and starting my post-op. (Funny side note, my auto correct changed “pre-op” to “Oreo”...oh the irony).

I’m not complaining, just pontificating on a Saturday night.

    Hi Iliana,
Sorry to hear you're going through a bit of difficulty. Everyone is different and hoping you turn the corner soon. I've been lucky that most of my pain is subsided. I've been walking as much as I can and that did relieve a lot of the gas pains for me. Now its just taking it easy and not overdoing it as I"m sure it'll take a month or so to fully recover or that's how I'm seeing it.
Hang in there... keep walking and get some better tasting protein shakes.... believe it or not I've been dranking the Premier Protein and buying them at Sams Club. Just found a popsicle freezer thingy and put some in the freezer. The chocolate flavor reminds me of fudgesicles when I was a kid.
Hang in... keep up the good work and this too shall pass.

I just saw your post about juicing. Number one, ask your team. Veggies may be too riugh on your new tummy, and two, there's not a lot of protein in veggie juice. They want us focusing on water, then protein. Good luck.

I had a similar problem. My nutritionist explained that it was probably acid production causing issues. I never even considered that because I have no reflux or heartburn symptoms, but as soon as I was on Prilosec for a could of days that feeling went away and I haven't had it since. When I ate, it went away too and I interpreted that as hunger. I take my Prilosec every day now! Maybe it could help?

I had my one month post surgery checkup yesterday for my RNY and I'm so happy I did this!! ? My close friends and family have been super supportive and I'm lucky with that.
But I'm irked when someone says I didn't 'need' this surgery, and didn't need to do something this 'radical' to my body. I went into the WLS program with a BMI of 42, 100 pounds overweight and my BP was 164/116 at the start of the program. That's a hot mess.
I've been polite about it but what I really want to do is smile sweetly and say... 'I appreciate your opinion over there Bob, but zero f*cks are given over here ?'.
And is it me or is it always skinny people who say this?
Anyone have a polite but firm method of dealing?
