Post Op Days... I still feel like death

I’m on post op day 3 (gastric sleeve on 3/18/19), & am having a horrible time getting liquids down. I can only do ice chips. I’ve tried freezing my Protein20 water & the sweetness kills me! Please tell me this gets better!! Any small sip I take makes me feel like it’s just sitting in my chest & HURTS!! When will I feel normal again?? I’m desperate for some relief & positive stories!!! Thanks all :)

It gets better in about 3-4 more days. I was sleeved 2/6 and I cannot believe it has now been over 6 weeks. The time has flown by

I was sleeved March 11. I am just now starting to feel better. I had a really rough time the first week. I'm sorry you are still feeling so awful. Since I'm not that far behind you, I'm sure there are many people who have more encouraging stories. Hang in there!!

Thanks so much!! Liquids are so hard to get down right now, but getting easier as days go by!! I’m hoping by Monday I will be feeling at least 75% instead of feeling like 30%! Recovery is ROUGH!!!

Hi Larissa I'm also post op day 3 with a surgery date of 3/18. The day off my surgery and the day after were absolutely miserable for me. I was in agony, extremely nauseous and bad the worst acid reflux but. Yesterday was a little better and today I felt a whole lot better. You will turn the corner soon too. I am really struggling to get my water intake up. I feel sipping from 1oz plastic shot glasses every 15 mins. I was actually able to drink a whole premier protein shake today. I drank it in 3rds. I find that after I drink walking around for a for mins helps me get past that feeling in my throat and chest.

I do hope you feel better soon!!

I felt like heated hell for 2 straight weeks post op then all of a sudden the pain fell off dramatically the next day. Stay strong beauty

??????????????????

After surgery, my tastebuds changed. I couldn't even drink the water in the hospital because it tasted very chlorinated, like swimming pool water. I was pleasantly surprised when I was brought a sugar free popsicle. They made life bearable. When I got home I found that flavoring added to the water helped a lot. So I transitioned to Crystal Light.

The key approach to dealing with changes in your taste buds is to experiment.

Things will get better but not overnight. Most of the improvements will happen in the first few weeks. But I did not feel like I was completely back to normal until the 6 month mark.
