  1. You’ve been through a lot, but you’ve made fabulous progress! Congratulations Thank you... I must add that this forum really helped me get through a really bad stretch.
  2. I had VSG surgery on 3/18/19 had one week of smooth sailing and then all hell broke loose had every complication you can think of. I was subsequently converted to a bypass of 4/11/2019 and I am grateful that I have had no issues at all other then I still am having issues meeting my protein goals. The good news is i have lost 53 pounds and I am probably only another 30 from goal weight.
  3. I am 5 days post op of a sleeve revision. I was sleeved 26 days ago and had severe complications. I was unable to tolerate any liquids let alone anything else. I suffered from severe acid and bile reflux. Happy to report as of now I am feeling great. I am close to meeting my new protein goal of 80 grams. I am still in some pain as the revision lasted 3 hours and I have a few more incision sites but getting better every day. Tylenol Liquid has provided relief. I have to say reading the various posts on this site helped me get through the past 30 days. Thank you all who contribute!

    Vacation advice

Interested in reading the replies to this... I am actually scheduled to travel 3 mos post op and then going to Greece for 2 weeks on my 4 mos anniversary. I have been looking up health food stores on the islands hoping I can get some protein. I am going to bring a few days supply with me but not sure I can take 2 weeks of shakes or even powders with me.

    Need Help!!

I'm sorry your Dr couldn't see you. Hope everything turns out ok at City MD I am 6 days post op VSG, tomorrow will be my 1 week anniversary. I felt absolutely horrible for the first 72 hours to the point I actually second guessed the surgery. The symptoms slowly but steadily improved. Today I feel almost 100% percent normal except that I'm a little sore still, not hungry and I struggle to drink shakes and water. My wife's friend had the same procedure and she looked like she was ready to leave the hospital 2 hours after the procedure. No pain no issues nothing. She was back at work the day after she was released. Everyone is different hopefully as the time passes you will feel better too.

    Any March 2019 Sleevers?

Hello all!! March 18th here.. I had 72 hours of absolute misery where I actually second guessed myself. I'm here now feeling almost 100% normal ( some soreness around surgery sites) except for the fact that a few sips of water fills me up and I'm just not hungry. Looking forward to the challenge ahead knowing the rewards are great. Thank you all for your posts as I learned a lot from them.

    Sleeved 3/18/19... horrible pain

Hi Larissa I see we both had surgery on the same day and I hope you are feeling better. I was in absolute agony after the anesthesia wore off and through Post Op day 1. I was extremely nauseous with vomiting and severe acid reflux. I could barely get 1 oz of water down. I felt somewhat better on day 2 but I was extremely uncomfortable to say the least. Day 3 I just started feeling better. Still couldn't meet my water intake goals but I wasn't in agony and the acid reflux had subsided. I am currently taking 40mg of Omeprazole for 30 days. Yesterday post op day 3 I felt almost normal except for the part where I take to big of a sip of water and I'm done. Today I feel great. I have drank 46oz of water since 8am. I am constantly just taking small sips. Almost feels like a chore but seems to be working. I hope I turned the corner. I still have no hunger. I have drank chicken broth and was able to actually drink a whole premier protein shake yesterday. Will shoot to finish one later. Looking forward to to what day 5 brings. Good luck I'm sure you will push through this too. The first night and next day after surgery actually had me second guessing it. Today not at all. Feel better!!

    Severe Gerd?

I had occasional heartburn prior to the surgery (on 3/18) but the day of surgery and the day after it was absolutely awful. I felt terrible like I had something stuck in my throat and sitting on it too. I am currently post op day 4 and have been given a 30 day script of Omeprazole 40mg. I haven't had any acid reflux of nausea since. Hopefully I won't have to stay on this after.

Post Op Days... I still feel like death

Hi Larissa I'm also post op day 3 with a surgery date of 3/18. The day off my surgery and the day after were absolutely miserable for me. I was in agony, extremely nauseous and bad the worst acid reflux but. Yesterday was a little better and today I felt a whole lot better. You will turn the corner soon too. I am really struggling to get my water intake up. I feel sipping from 1oz plastic shot glasses every 15 mins. I was actually able to drink a whole premier protein shake today. I drank it in 3rds. I find that after I drink walking around for a for mins helps me get past that feeling in my throat and chest. I do hope you feel better soon!!

    I'm day 1 Post Op

I'm hoping today I can get over 40oz of water plus an 11.5 oz premier protein shake but will see. Thank you for the well wishes and info.
  14. First time poster long time lurker.. I want to thank everyone who does post as you provided me with a great deal of information!! I was just sleeved yesterday and I'm sitting here in the hospital hoping to be released later today. I am really have alot of nausea issues and acid reflux issues. I have been given medicine for both of those issues with limited success. I had some soreness accociated with the incision but it wasn't necessary a pain.. except when I first got out of bed to walk! Hardest part for me last night was dealing with the gas pains in the center of my chest. I seemed to have turned the corner of that hopefully as I am feeling better now. I haven't tried anything except room temperature water and trying to sip on a decaf tea now. My Doctor suggests hot liquid as it forces me to sip slowly and not over do it. I was offered clear chicken broth and Jell-O but couldn't stomach the thought of trying them. Anyway I'm excited for this new journey and thank you all again for getting somewhat prepared.

    I'm day 1 Post Op

The nurse gave me a bunch of 1 oz plastic shot glasses I line them up and set a timer on my phone and have 1 every 8 mins. I assume this will get better over time and it wont be as much work. I am definitely a chugger too. This morning I woke up and was very thirsty I started to drink some Gatorade Zero and had to stop myself.

    I'm day 1 Post Op

Just wanted to thank everyone again and also do a little update. I am now Day 3 post op and feeling great. Acid reflux issue has been resolved (on omeprazole xr 40mg for 30 days). Nausea has been resolved. I have some soreness around the surgery sites but I walked 2 miles yesterday post op day 2 plan doing another 2 miles today. I did not meet my water requirement yesterday (Post op day 2) but hope to do it today. I just had 4oz of a protein shake (Premier Protein Vanilla) and feel pretty good. Just have to learn to take it slow. Sip & wait.. them sip some more. I have had zero feelings of hunger which absolutely amazes me. Looking forward to tackling this challenge and its great to see I'm not alone. Thanks again all!!!

    I'm day 1 Post Op

Thank you GradyCat.. I feel the same way I have no desire to try the jello or the broth. I'll play it by ear when I get home. I just want to make sure my nausea issues are gone. Also I have some really bad acid reflux but I definitely feel better than I did last night. My biggest concern is making sure I get my water intake up and I want to try to get my protein up via shakes.
