My revision was deemed "medically necessary" because of damage in my esophagus from reflux. Saw the surgeon and was sceduled for surgery within a week. I have Kaiser insurance, so its all in the same facility.

While mine was technically medically necessary, my doctor wanted me to go through their bariatric program so I can learn what life and eating like with RNY. The program was accelerated because my GERD is severe. I began middle of November and was approved 2/1. Surgery is on 3/18. It was worth the wait and I appreciate that they wanted me to be as knowledgeable as possible.

I’m due to get it. Need to contact the surgeon’s person to make sure insurance will cover conversion as medically necessary so no date yet. A year and a half post sleeve and my GERD is unbearable and I got gastroparesis. Original surgeon is a jerk so I’m hoping insurance will be okay with a different one. He said about 90% of his patients are cured of GERD.

I had sleeve to bypass, but not because of GERD. My sleeve was so stretched out, it was useless. I'm happy to answer any questions about the process.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
