Perplexed - no weight loss?

Recommended Posts

A few days before my Gastric Bypass surgery I weighed in at 306. Then I did a liquid diet for 2 days and got down to 300. When I weighed myself at the hospital after surgery I was 318 !! Now back at home I am 311 but have been this weight for the last few days. Why is that? I am drinking liquids... Am I just broken now after my sleeve to bypass revision? Is this it? Starting to kind of freak out in my mind.

You were pumped full of fluids in the hospital. Be patient, it will happen.

Same thing happened to me. I didn’t start seeing results for 2 weeks. Just focus on getting your fluids in and following your doctor’s instructions. Your body went through trama and needs time to recover. Good luck.

At one of my pre op appointments the nurse told me to throw away my scale and not step on it for that very reason.

Once the swelling goes down, you will see more weight loss.

Aaaaaaand it's come to an abrupt halt again. Have not lost a single pound for the last 4 days. This is going to be a very very slow weight loss if it continues like this.

ah - the "three-week stall", right on schedule! Search for it. Happens to almost everyone.

Same here - I have lost nothing in 5 days now. In fact, I've gained 2 lbs from 5 days ago. I knew I would be a slow loser, but this is a little frustrating so early on (15 days out).

Oh yes, I forgot that one haha. Didn't happen to me last time because of my sleeve leak. Glad to see I'm 'normal'! lol

Thank you for reminding me :)

There is a lot of swelling and tissue trauma after surgery. Once this goes down, you will see that scale go down, too. Once a started losing again, the weight was coming off at 1 pound per day. WOW! I thought I was going to be one of those super-losers!

But now I am at the 3 week stall. It is so good to know that this is common. Just gotta keep doing the right things and be patient. :) It will come off when it's ready.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
