Eating after surgery (Reflux)

Recommended Posts

I am almost 3 months post op and I take my omperozalla about 20 minutes before eating but I tend to throw up (mainly foam/ acid reflux and not food) at every meal especially with meat. Does anyone have some advice?

Slow down, cut everything in small, pieces, don't over load your spoon or fork and slow down ! Nobody,is going to take your food away from you, but I used to bolt my food like I thought they were and I'm an only child, I ate like I had 6 little brothers trying to steal my chicken drumstick, hard learning to retrain ME.

I get "the foamies" too if I eat meat, so I'm just avoiding it. I had really bad reflux right after the surgery, especially when I'd lay down, but now at just about 8 weeks post-op it has gone away. Yay! My guess is you need to slow down eating and make sure you're not drinking anything with your meals.

your stomach may just not be ready for it yet. A lot of meats can be pretty dry.

do you throw up even things like yogurt? If so, another possibility is a stricture. But first try eating more slowly and see if that does the trick. But do lay off the meat for the time being - just try soft things. If you continue to vomit even though you're eating mushy things very slowly, then call your clinic. They may want to check for a stricture.

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞
