Good Morning! This is my first post. I made the decision to have this surgery last year. I finally saw my doctor to send in her referral in December. Time has flown by so fast since then as well as the process. I've had my first surgeon appointment & met with him & his team. I've had my blood tests and first month visit with the Dietician. I have been approved by everyone, just waiting on the insurance to approve me. I am a Senior Lady at 66 years old with Type 2 Diabetes. I wish I had made this decision many, many years ago, but I was like a lot of people swayed by the stigma that once was attached to WLS. My surgeon has recommended VSG.

I have been reading posts on the forums for a month or so. I didn't want to post until I knew this was going to happen. They are looking at April 2019 for my surgery. I'm really excited & nervous at the same time.

Congrats! I'm 53 and rolling right along through the process! Looking at a late March early April Surgery. Well wishes!

Well congratulations are in older here. Always happy to add a near- peer of mine to the batch. Its not too late for you, because it was not too late for me either. 5 months out at 73, the rest of my life will be the best of my life, never count out Baby Boomers , we were made of strong steel not molded plastic, we have met our challenges, bore our scars for the trophies they are, lived our lives with style and grace, and we can educate all the younger people how it is done! Welcome again@kjoz66, hope you'll be happy here!

Thank you all! Is there a general section where I can learn how to post my stats under my name? Also how to reply to others' messages etc?

Are you on a computer or the phone app?

Welcome to the forums. I'm 53 and I just had the VSG 7 weeks ago and joined here as well. I've learned so much from reading everyone's posts and it's kept me sane.

I have no clue where to upload this, so I'll put it here. This is pre-op vs the morning of my 6 month appointment! In office I weight 232, that's 88 lbs down since my highest weight, 75 lbs since my surgery weight! I can't believe this jacket fit... I am smaller now than the last time I was this size which the surgeon found really amusing. He's happy with where I am in my weight loss and estimates I'll be around 200 lbs by my 1 year anniversary! My lowest weight as an adult is 195, so that's pretty damn exciting to think I'll be near that at a year. Everything from there will be unknown territory!!

So proud of you Cat. Getting into those smaller size clothes is half the fun isn't it?. Keep up the good work!!!!

I changed my profile image to a molecule of protein. Why? Because I am certain that it saved my life.

That's brilliant! You've done amazing!! I should probably think about changing my profile picture at some point. Mine is the doll from Squid Games. Ironically the whole premise of the show is about dodging death. We've both done that...

Two years out. Lost 120 , regained 5 lbs. Recently has a bout of Norovirus, lost 7 pounds in two days. Now my stomach feels like it did right after my surgery. Sore, sensitive to even water.  Anyone out there have a similar experience?

      April Surgery
Am I the only struggling to get weight down. I started with weight of 297 and now im 280 but seem to not lose more weight. My nutrtionist told me not to worry about the pounds because I might still be losing inches. However, I do not really see much of a difference is this happen to any of you, if so any tips?
      Thanks

Well recovering from gallbladder removal was a lot like recovering from the modified duodenal switch surgery, twice in 4 months yay 🥳😭. I'm having to battle cravings for everything i shouldn't have, on top of trying to figure out what happens after i eat something. Sigh, let me fast forward a couple of months when everyday isn't a constant battle and i can function like a normal person again! 😞

I may have to have gall bladder surgery during my weight loss surgery. Not thrilled about it either but do not want 2 recovery times. Just want it over with.

Thanks for your post. I may need to rethink my decision... :(
