I was taken off metformin and victoza immediately after surgery and my blood sugars are normal. I hardly eat carbs though.

I drink a lot of tea. Mostly because it started as a habit instilled during early childhood, then teas through pregnancy, for medicinal purposes, hobby, ceremony, fun thirst, celebration, boredom, climate, culture, etc.
I could always find a reason. Here's another one. Weight loss/ maintenance.

We would rather you ask, at least I would LOL..than to try and figure it out and stress then eat the bad foods you are trying to stay away from. Also, read a lot of the message boards. You will find so much information out there and it can help you prepare for the "what may happen" and how people handled it. If it doesn't happen, great! you are lucky, but if it does, you will be totally prepared and have an idea of how it can be handled.

Do not eat a pizza. Do not chew and spit it out. If you can't buck up to follow the rules for your pre-op diet, you aren't going to be able to survive post-op. Pull on your big girl pants.
Make your shakes interesting - I use Fairlife Skim Milk (13g protein in 1 cup), a scoop of protein powder and then add, as I want:
    Frozen fruit
    Sugar Free coffee house syrups
    PB2
    Raw spinach
So - my go to when I need to feel like I'm a grown ass woman is my caramel frappucino - 1 scoop chocolate protein powder, 8 ounces cold coffee, a few squirts of sugar free caramel syrup, and ice. Put it in the blender and hit the button. You won't even realize it's from your kitchen.
If you get in 60-90 grams of protein a day (you should be tracking all your food at this point) and drinking 64 ounces of water a day, you won't be physically hungry. You are dealing with head hunger. Each time you feel that, go on pinterest and pin a cute outfit to wear at goal weight. Make a bucket list of what you want to do when you lose weight. Go for a walk.
You should be using soups (but not creamy high calorie ones), sugar free jello, sugar free pudding, sugar free popsicles. Add crystal light to your water. Drink 8 ounces of water and weight 10 minutes every time you think you are hungry.
I make shakes with chocolate protein powder, milk, caramel (sugar free) and a scoop of PB2 and ice in to the blender for a snickers bar. Use Pinterest to find shakes to make. Experiment. keep yourself busy.

The Specialist I saw at the ER was called before I got there by my Opthamologist in my home town, so he had a pretty good idea what was going on. He did a lot of testing before he even sent me to St. Louis. I am hoping too that this may make me a better candidate, but there is always that chance the surgeon will see it differently. The hospital they sent me to in St. Louis is affiliated with where my surgeon is located, so he may know about what happened before I can tell him, so keep your finger's crossed for me. Thank you Everythinganna for the support! ?

According to my GP, I am pretty healthy despite Type 2 Diabetes & High Blood Pressure. My GP sent my referral to the surgeon & he accepted me. I've had all my lab tests, Phsyc evaluation & first month appointment met of 3 with the Dietician. Yesterday I had an incident at the eye doctor where he sent me to the ER because of sudden partial blindness in my right eye. No pain, no headache, just an irritable grey haze on the bottom half of my right eye. The ER specialist diagnosed it as non-arteritic anterior ischemic optic neuropathy, which basically is a type of stroke at the back of my eye. The nerve that sends a signal from the eye to the brain was damaged. It was not an Arteritic stroke which is a good sign. There is no current treatment or cure. There is, however a chance that it could worsen if I don't get a better control of my Diabetes & blood pressure. Now I am worried my surgeon will disapprove me. Being that the incident occurred on a Friday afternoon, I have not had a chance to tell my Bariatric team yet. Has anyone had an issue with their health that your surgery team dropped you?

the reason for having it is.. if something happens they medical teams cannot give you NSAIDS nor instert a tube into your stomach blindly so they don't puncture it. They have to see your stomach on a screen now that it is smaller.

Good Morning! This is my first post. I made the decision to have this surgery last year. I finally saw my doctor to send in her referral in December. Time has flown by so fast since then as well as the process. I've had my first surgeon appointment & met with him & his team. I've had my blood tests and first month visit with the Dietician. I have been approved by everyone, just waiting on the insurance to approve me. I am a Senior Lady at 66 years old with Type 2 Diabetes. I wish I had made this decision many, many years ago, but I was like a lot of people swayed by the stigma that once was attached to WLS. My surgeon has recommended VSG.
I have been reading posts on the forums for a month or so. I didn't want to post until I knew this was going to happen. They are looking at April 2019 for my surgery. I'm really excited & nervous at the same time.

I think they all pretty much do that. I know sparkpeople will also let you put in a recipe and how many servings and it'll calculate the macros for a serving. It will also let you save groupings. So, for example, I drink hot cocoa - so I have a grouping with 1 c. fairlife milk, 1TBL cocoa, & 1 packet stevia saved to use.
I think most of the apps do this.

Well congratulations are in older here. Always happy to add a near- peer of mine to the batch. Its not too late for you, because it was not too late for me either. 5 months out at 73, the rest of my life will be the best of my life, never count out Baby Boomers , we were made of strong steel not molded plastic, we have met our challenges, bore our scars for the trophies they are, lived our lives with style and grace, and we can educate all the younger people how it is done! Welcome again@kjoz66, hope you'll be happy here!
